Job purposeUnder the General Manager, the Director of Finance will provide leadership in the direction, administration and coordination of all finance and accounting activities for the Golden Nugget Danville Casino. The Director of Finance is accountable and responsible for the overall performance and operation of the Finance Department including Financial Accounting, Revenue Audit, Purchasing, Count Team, Payroll, Financial Analysis, and Cage operations.
Duties and responsibilities- Exhibit conduct in accordance with all Illinois Gaming Board (IGB) Rules and Regulations, Federal and State laws and regulations, and Company and departmental policies and procedures.
- Perform the duties and responsibilities associated with the IGB Statewide Voluntary Self-Exclusion Program as described in Section A of this ICS.
- Consistently deliver positive, courteous, and professional guest service in all interactions with guests, visitors, vendors, and fellow employees.
- Create, develop, and implement an effective strategy of financial organization for the property, working with the VP of Finance, to determine objectives for future growth and expansion.
- Conduct and organize financial analysis on business in order to prepare detailed monthly financial reports as well as periodic reports which summarize and forecast corporate business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses and earnings based on past, present and expected operations.
- Ensure the quality of management operations in all areas of the Finance Department.
- Ensure the integrity of all financial data produced by the department.
- Recruit, select, train, coach, counsel, recognize and retain direct reports who consistently perform actions and behaviors that reinforce excellence in business operations and guest service.
- Maintains a working knowledge of GAAP standards and ensures the timely completion of financial reports and statements, in accordance with same.
- Work with the General Manager, Directors, and Managers to develop annual budgets including capital expenditures, revenue, labor control and budget forecasting.
- Reviews daily financial reports to certify accuracy.
- Monitor property cash and credit accounts.
- Monitor and analyze results of financial performance.
- Establishes and implements production standards and goals, as well as departmental policies and procedures, which will enable the Finance Department to function more effectively and efficiently.
- Develop pre- and post-forma analysis of activities, costs, and operations to determine success of individual events and promotions and forecast data to determine progress toward stated goals and objectives.
- Stay abreast of current trends and practices within area of responsibility and communicate pertinent information to management, peers, direct reports, and employees as appropriate.
- Promote positive public/employee relations at all times.
- Perform any duties on or off-site involving guest services and quality control including, but not limited to, special events, guest giveaways, crowd control, property cleanliness, and other hospitality functions as needed.
- Maintain a clean, safe, hazard-free work environment within area of responsibility.
- Safeguard the confidential information of all employees, department, and company records.
- Demonstrate a commitment to ensuring responsible gaming and responsible alcohol service by discreetly notifying appropriate management of concerns and observations.
- Ensure prompt and discrete notification to senior management and/or the Ethics Hotline of any observation of illegal acts and/or internal ethics violations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
- Five (5) years of accounting/financial management experience in the casino industry is required.
- Advanced degree and/or CPA strongly preferred.
- Ability to obtain a gaming license.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends and holidays is required.
- Ability to deliver a service level which creates an atmosphere that makes our guests want to return, giving each guest a positive, memorable experience.
- Extensive experience with accounting information systems.
- Expert knowledge of MS Excel.
- Experience in preparing and reviewing proformas and budgets for new and existing operations.
- Experience with financial reporting, expense analysis, cost benefit analysis and financial statement interpretation.

- Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
- Must possess basic mathematical skills to include ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, and work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
- Ability to read and understand all policies and procedures.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with guests, team members and management in English, specific to position duties and responsibilities.
- Must be able to complete standard forms and reports.
