WSP is looking for a
Senior Vice President/Local Business Line Lead for our
Northern California Transportation Business Line, based in our
downtown San Francisco office. Serving as the Local Area Business Line Leader (LBL), the candidate will play a key strategic leadership role in the California Region as we continue to strengthen and expand our Transportation practice, promote collaboration and teamwork with a focus to build our local team, and drive solutions in support our clients, and communities.
The Local Area Business Line Leader will assist with leadership of the Northern California Transportation Business Line, assist in developing and implementing marketing strategies, lead business service delivery through WSP's strategy focused on four pillars of success: Clients, Expertise, People & Culture and Operational Excellence, and assist in delivering services and solutions to bring value to our clients. The LBL will provide coordinated leadership with other local and national business line leaders and colleagues for the pursuit of transportation and infrastructure focused highway, bridge, roadway corridor, transit and rail, tolling and mobility solutions, and multi-modal services projects and programs; and aviation-based transportation, as well as support our clients and project opportunities for WSP's market services.
The Local Area Business Leader is the external face of WSP in Northern California and may bring Regional or National Leaders to support growing the business to meet annual tactical and long-term strategic objectives. Of equal significance, the Local Area Business Leader is empowered to oversee operational performance, mastering internal dynamics of the business to ensure that deployment of resources advances business objectives.

Clients
- Drives performance of the transportation business and strategically grows our market share to fulfill our goal that WSP become the preferred, trusted advisor to our clients.
- Manages local client coordination and cross-selling efforts in coordination with Region, District, National Business Lines, and Pursuit Management.
- Integrates as the "face of the company" locally and across Northern California, attending civic and industry events, conferences, and forums ranging from Women Transportation Seminar (WTS), Conference of Minority Transportation Officials (COMTO), American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC), Focus on the Futures, and others.
- Brings an expanded view and integrated response to complex challenges by leveraging our full suite of offerings across all end markets.
- Utilizes our extended reach of technical and subject matter experts (SMEs) across regions, districts, offices and the globe to foster new and innovative client delivery.
People & Culture
- Collaborates with the Region Business Line Leader and other area leaders to attract the best industry talent by fostering a work environment that is collaborative, values inclusion and diversity and invites broad, creative thinking - crafting a more attractive place to work, grow and thrive.

Operational Excellence
- Optimizes the client and employee experience through regular reviews while embracing process improvement.
- Focuses on innovation and collaboration with a focus on maintaining and improving quality.
- Develops local growth, forecast and business development strategy in collaboration with District, Region and National Business Line Leaders.
- Resolves conflict and other internal/external issues that may arise in the office, amongst WSP's client base, or on projects.
- Collaborates with the Region Business Line Leader and other area leaders to strategically drive the business, assess and suggest improvements for project performance, oversee overhead expenditures, and focus on key performance indicators (KPIs): Sales, Funding, EBITDA, Staff Hiring and Retention, DSO, Utilization, and Backlog.
Expertise
- Leverages our broad technical experience to enhance current and new service offerings and provides strategic direction and leadership of local Client Engagement Teams.
- Fosters the development of new and emerging innovations to remain the trusted thought leaders in our industry.
- Advances the strategic direction of the district and region in the location of responsibility for sustained and continued growth consistent within the context of the strategic plan.
- Encourages, supports and promotes the technical and professional development of local WSP staff.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications - Minimum of 15 years of experience with a college degree or equivalent experience in transportation infrastructure industry, business management, and/or project management.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Planning, Business, or related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience of leadership, personal accountability, persistence, and goal oriented.
- Ability to innovate and re-think the conventional approach to client and employee engagement.
- Strong business acumen with an aptitude for improving processes, motivating teams, and advancing culture change initiatives.
- Sound decision-making, strategic and visionary thinking, and creative business development capabilities across a multi-disciplined practice.
- Strongly established relevant client relationships and industry contacts in the local area.
- Commitment to internal and external client service.
- Commitment to travel to designated locations and offices across Northern California to support leadership of teams, client engagement, and support community and industry engagement.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

Compensation:
Expected Salary (all locations): $203,400 - $341,110
WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant's sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
