The Managing Editor is responsible for editorial services, including medical editing, copyediting, and fact checking of pharmaceutical advertising materials. The Managing Editor will mentor and train a Medical Editor. The Managing Editor is an advocate for the Editorial department, communicating the requirements of the Editorial department to teammates in other company departments, and has ownership of all projects in an assigned portfolio. Responsibilities:- Performs cold reads, word-for-word reads, correction checks, and fact checks on digital and print pieces for HCP and DTC audiences
- Manages day-to-day workload on assigned brand(s)
- Acts as strong source of brand style and knowledge for team
- Attends kickoff meetings for assigned brands and reviews project rundowns prior to those kickoffs to ensure any editorial concerns are addressed and timelines are accurate for work required
- Troubleshoots issues on their own but also knows when to pull manager in for support
- Fluent in editorial process and understands when process can be adjusted to meet client needs
- Recognizes issues with process/quality and provides solutions, consulting with manager as needed
- Demonstrates a strong ability to prioritize and work closely with project management, creative, and account to ensure all client deadlines are met for assigned brands
- Notifies manager of any team concerns in a timely manner
- Embodies the spirit of a team player, assisting other editors with their brands when time allows and building strong working relationships with teammates across the company
- Deeply involved in the day-to-day assignments for assigned brands, but also able to see the larger strategic picture and all the interdependencies
- When staffing and ability allows, can manage one direct report or 1-2 freelancers, and assist in their editorial and agency growth and education
Requirements:- At least 5 years of agency experience
- Proficient in AMA style
- Strong understanding of FDA pharma marketing guidelines
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, digital environment with multiple deadlines
- Ability to work independently day-to-day with minimal oversight from supervisor
- Understanding of internet-based proofing software a plus (ProofHQ, Ziflow, etc)
- Strong grasp of technology and ability to pivot/adapt to new tech
- Possess strong organizational and time management skills
- Proactive team-player and critical thinker with a positive, can-do mentality.
The range below represents the low and high end of the base salary someone in this role may earn as an employee of an Omnicom Health Group company in the United States. Salaries will vary based on various factors including but not limited to professional and academic experience, training, associated responsibilities, and other business and organizational needs.
