We are seeking a
Senior Industrial Engineer to join our team at our state-of-the-art distribution center in Mira Loma, CA. The successful candidate will be responsible for optimizing the distribution center's performance by improving processes, enhancing system functionality, and driving operational efficiency through data analysis and continuous improvement initiatives. You will play a pivotal role in maintaining and improving our cutting-edge automated systems, collaborating with cross-functional teams to maximize throughput, and ensuring optimal use of resources.
This role is based onsite at our facility in Mira Loma, Monday-Friday and is scheduled to work regular business hours. This role requires approximately 30% domestic and international travel.
Key Responsibilities:- Process Optimization: Analyze and enhance current processes and workflows within the fully automated distribution center to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and increase throughput.
- Automation Integration: Collaborate with the engineering and IT teams to ensure seamless integration of automation technologies, including robotics, conveyors, automated storage and retrieval systems (ASRS), and warehouse management systems (WMS).
- Greenfield & Brownfield Expertise: Apply your knowledge of both greenfield (new build) and brownfield (retrofitted) environments to implement automation solutions effectively. Collaborate with stakeholders during the design and optimization phases of both types of projects.
- Warehouse Execution Systems (WES): Demonstrate a general understanding of WES to help manage and control warehouse processes, optimize the flow of goods, and coordinate between Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and physical automation equipment.
- Capacity Planning: Develop and implement capacity models to ensure that the distribution center meets both short- and long-term business demands. Conduct simulations and time studies to predict future needs and identify bottlenecks.
- Continuous Improvement: Lead initiatives to improve safety, productivity, and quality. Use Lean, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies to identify, analyze, and implement process enhancements.
- Data Analysis: Utilize data from automated systems to monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) such as order accuracy, cycle times, and equipment utilization. Make data-driven decisions to improve system performance.
- Project Management: Lead and support engineering projects from concept to implementation, including layout design, process flow improvements, and equipment optimization.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the operations team, maintenance staff, and technology vendors to troubleshoot issues, resolve system failures, and continuously improve the functionality and performance of automated systems.
- Workforce Optimization: Develop and refine labor standards to ensure optimal staffing levels and productivity in a highly automated environment. Work on ergonomic improvements to enhance worker safety and performance.
- Safety and Compliance: Ensure all engineering projects and improvements comply with safety standards and regulatory requirements. Promote a culture of safety across the distribution center.
Qualifications:- Education: Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum 10 years of experience as an Industrial Engineer in a distribution, fulfillment, logistics, or manufacturing environment required. Experience with automated systems and technologies is required.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in warehouse automation systems, including ASRS, conveyors, and robotic technologies.
- Strong knowledge of data analysis tools (MS Office, SQL, etc.) and experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
- Experience with simulation and modeling software (e.g., AutoCAD, MS Projects) for process optimization.
- Lean Six Sigma certification is preferred.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret large amounts of data and present findings.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 lbs, as some hands-on work may be required in the distribution center.
The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $150,700.00 - $256,200.00 per year.
The ranges above reflect the potential annual base pay across the U.S. for all roles; the applicable base pay range will depend on the candidate's primary work location, pay grade, and variable compensation plan. Individual base pay within each range depends on various factors, in addition to primary work location, such as complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. Base pay ranges are reviewed and typically updated each year. Offers are made within the base pay range applicable at the time of hire. New hires starting base pay generally falls in the bottom half (between the minimum and midpoint) of a pay range.
