As a Senior Software Engineer/Delivery Lead, you will play a key role in both engineering and leadership, driving your team to deliver right-sized, high-quality software solutions.

Position Overview
In this role, you will lead the technical delivery of projects while collaborating with strategists, engineers, and designers. You will ensure that your team stays aligned with project goals and deadlines, unblocking team members when challenges arise and advocating for Agile principles, continuous improvement, and collaborative problem-solving.

Team Structure
At Clockwork, our teams are long-standing and assigned to specific clients, promoting deep client understanding and strong, ongoing collaboration. As the Delivery Lead for the team, you'll work closely with the following other team members:
  • Client Strategist: Leads project planning and risk management and ensures strategic alignment across the team.
  • Experience Strategist: Focuses on delivering exceptional user and buyer audience experiences.
  • Software Engineers: Collaborate to develop solutions aligned with client needs.
  • Change Strategist (floating): Defines strategies to enable adoption and smooth transitions.
  • Product Designer (floating): Applies human-centered design to bring digital ideas to life.


Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership
  • Gain a deep understanding of the project's scope, objectives, and goals.
  • Collaborate with the Client Strategist to create and maintain project roadmaps and tactical plans.
  • Drive the team toward meeting sprint goals, ensuring the delivery of right-sized solutions.
  • Facilitate the distribution of key project knowledge for onboarding and future hand-offs.

Team Leadership
  • Lead by example, embodying Clockwork's values and people-first approach.
  • Promote Agile and Scrum methodologies, encouraging continuous improvement and sustainable work pace.
  • Foster collaboration across disciplines and help the team resolve challenges through healthy, constructive debates.
  • Unblock team members when they face challenges by identifying and escalating risks or obstacles early.
  • Support team growth through mentorship and guidance.

Risk Management & Facilitation
  • Proactively identify risks and remove blockers to keep the team moving forward.
  • Facilitate essential delivery rituals, including sprint planning, retrospectives, and road mapping.
  • Help onboard new team members and ensure smooth integration into team processes.

Client Management & Communication
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring alignment on goals and deliverables.
  • Lead and facilitate productive client meetings, ensuring clear communication and follow-through.
  • Keep teams focused on client outcomes while ensuring profitable and successful project delivery.


Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in software engineering and delivery leadership.
  • Expertise in leading Agile teams and applying Scrum principles in software development.
  • Proven experience managing and delivering complex digital projects.
  • Strong technical background with hands-on experience in modern web or mobile development.
  • Significant experience building CMS-based solutions, with experience in WordPress.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and leadership skills, with a focus on team dynamics and client relations.
  • A proactive approach to risk management and problem-solving, including unblocking team members when challenges arise.

  • This is a hybrid role. Candidates must live within commuting distance to the Clockwork office in Northeast Minneapolis, Minnesota.
