OverviewThe Process Safety Engineer position has high visibility, leading and supporting the site's Process Safety Management strategies. This position will allow you to work with the teams in each region to establish a robust Process Safety Management program for the site. As the program is implemented, the role will take on process engineering aspects focused on improving performance in the areas of safety, environmental, operating rates, efficiencies and yields.
Essential FunctionsTasks• Devise and implement Process Safety Management (PSM) standards and incorporate best practices from other sites. Support plan compliance requirements for OSHA, PSM & Risk Management Program (RMP) regulations.
• Uses engineering principles to troubleshoot process problems.
• Act as the liason between the company and the client with PSM related inquiries.
• Provide Process Safety Review for Management of Change (MOC) program as needed.
• Provide technical support to operations and engineering teams to ensure safety is integrated into all processes and designs.
• A sustainable approach to PSM self-audits and inspections
• Participate in and/or lead incident investigations related to PSM/RMP-covered processes. Ensure that root causes are properly identified and appropriately addressed.
• Participate in PSM/RMP compliance audits, oversee the development of post-audit corrective/preventive actions, and track them to completion.
• Performs feasibility studies for technology transfers.
• Evaluates current equipment capabilities, capital requirements, and health, safety, and environmental issues.
• Analyzes quality for production lines, examining process data and quality critical parameters. Works toward establishing in-control processes, identifying areas of variation, and implementing measures to reduce such variations.
• Assist with installation, commissioning, and start-up of new equipment.
• Manages small capital projects. Determines justification, scope definition, safety reviews, punch-list items. Coordinates implementation, startup, commissioning, and performance reporting.
• Track site KPIs to drive continual improvement of process safety and risk mitigation. Continually monitor the status of PSM program elements to ensure improvement, including identifying areas where additional support and/or training is needed.
• Provide process engineering support to all aspects of operations, guiding new equipment design and commissioning, and problem-solving process issues.
• Work with project engineers and external contractors to introduce new equipment, develop and commission new processes.
• Apply LEAN, Six Sigma and other Continuous Improvement tools and techniques as required in support of operations LEAN efforts.
• Provide guidance as required to production supervisors and engineers and be available to offer training and coaching to the operations team on request.

Preferred CredentialsQualifications (experience may include a combination of work experience and/or education)- A minimum of five (5) years of experience participating in a Process control role AND two (2) years of EHS experience
OR
- a minimum of three (3) years of experience in Process Safety Engineering
• Experience with Six Sigma, Lean Enterprise and Continuous Improvement projects is desired. Six Sigma certification is preferred but not essential.
• Proficient in the use of computers and several Windows based applications
• Experience in safety incident classification, investigation procedures, root cause analyses and corrective actions is desired.
• Must be detail oriented and consistently meets commitments. Possesses good organizational and planning skills, can multi-task and prioritize effectively. Able to document and execute against short- and long-term plans to achieve objectives.
• High level of comfort developing and delivering training and motivational presentations to all levels of associates.
• Familiar with warehousing processes to drive processes within those environments.
• Must be flexible to work different hours as needed by the department / business and willing to travel up to 40% of the time.
• Experience in root cause investigation techniques
Education• Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
Certification/License• Certification in Process Safety Management (PSM) or related safety certifications (CSP, OHST, ASP) is highly desirable.
• Lean Manufacturing/Six Sigma certification preferred.
