DFC seeks an experienced Business Process Consultant to support a project supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) disability claims process business optimization efforts within the Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA). This position supports the performance improvement activities as part of the DFC Business Process and Strategy practice. The scope of work and work products are primarily the analysis of business processes, development and maintenance of VA-facing applications and information, and facilitation of meetings to capture information leading to the development of an improved future state for VA claims processing. The position will assist with business process analysis, performance management, and other performance improvement activities. Additionally, support will be provided in the analysis of client operations, business processes, organizational structures, supporting information systems, and leading practices to identify opportunities for improved performance, increased effectiveness and efficiency within the client organization or business area, and support implementation activities. This position will also interact with DFC senior leadership and as project requirements dictate, with client personnel at appropriate levels, in the accomplishment of project objectives.

What the role requires:
  • Perform business process reengineering (BPR) workflow depiction to comprehensively document claims process workflows to support the overall BPR effort and program goals.
  • Document current solutions implemented for the basis of analysis of business processes.
  • Make business process improvement recommendations from analysis of the processes along with drafting possible solutions for future state activities and implementation.
  • Determine operational objectives by studying business functions; gathering information; evaluating output requirements and formats.
  • Define project requirements by identifying project milestone and phases; tracking project budget and monitoring project progress by tracking activity; resolving problems; publishing progress reports; recommending actions.
  • Assess, track, and implement enhancements to content and functionality on various government-facing collaboration sites.
  • Design and develop Microsoft applications used to capture and assess VBA automation activities.
  • Assist in creating protocols by writing and updating procedures.
  • Assist in creating project management documentation and leadership briefings.
  • Provide viable reference material for users by writing and maintaining user documentation.
  • Maintain client confidence and protect operations by maintaining information confidentiality.
  • Work toward professional improvement and certifications, maintain current certifications.
  • Develop and maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies.

What you need to be successful:
  • 3-5 years of experience in consulting
  • Ability to work well in team-based environment
  • Ability to work independently and develop client relationships
  • Ability to lead and facilitate client meetings, conference calls, and capture accurate meeting notes
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to exercise mature judgment
  • Well-organized with the ability to handle several projects/clients simultaneously
  • Strong skills in Microsoft SharePoint development.
  • Experience with Microsoft Power suite, including Power Apps, Power Automate, and Power BI
  • Experience in business process analysis/reengineering
  • Strong analytical skills, presentation development and writing skills
  • Exceptional skills in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Strong work ethic with a commitment to client service excellence
  • Experience working with federal government projects, especially within the VA, is strongly preferred

  • Ability to obtain a US government security clearance, if needed, is required.

This opportunity is available in the Washington DC metro area (flexible work arrangement), Charlotte NC (fulltime remote), Columbia SC (fulltime remote), and Minneapolis MN (fulltime remote), Florida (fulltime remote).
