POSITION SUMMARY: This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Ensure the health and safety of all staff and members while driving our YMCA school bus. Positively engage with members and families to enhance their experience while maintaining safety during times.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Follow emergency procedures and safety precautions. Follow procedures for reporting all accidents, incidents, and hazards.
  2. Maintain order and discipline with staff.
  3. Adhere to driving schedule.
  4. Perform vehicle checklist before each route.
  5. Immediately report vehicle and discipline concerns to supervisor.
  6. Adhere to work schedule and substitute for other staff as needed.
  7. Adhere to all policies, rules, and regulations as outlined in employee handbook, transportation manual, and other communications.
  8. Obtain and maintain required training(s).
  9. Accept additional assignments as deemed appropriate, within the scope of the job description.
  10. Creates a safe environment in which others feel welcome and respected.
  11. Drives bus safely according to YMCA policies and procedures and state laws.
  12. Assists in YMCA fundraising activities and special events.
  13. Play a role in securing gifts for the annual campaign.
  14. Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Minimum age 21 required.
  2. Must have a valid driver's license.
  3. Clean motor vehicle record required.
  4. Must pass a drug screen.
  5. Certifications required within 30 days of hire: CPR/AED & First Aid, Driver's Safety training
  6. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  7. Ability to relate and communicate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  8. Six months or more of related experience preferred.
  9. Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Visual, auditory, and verbal ability to communicate effectively.

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and stand, walk, or sit for extended periods of time; occasionally stoop/bend.
