The Sexual Health Clinic (SHC) at the Massachusetts General Hospital is a growing, vibrant practice that provides excellent patient-centered clinical care. We are committed to fostering a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion.This commitment applies to staff members at all levels as well as the patient populations we care for.The SHC is looking to hire a registered nurse (RN) who demonstrates these same values to join our team.The SHC provides comprehensive screening and treatment for sexually transmitted infections (STIs), HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP, both oral and injectable formulations), doxycycline post-exposure prophylaxis for STIs, sexual health vaccines, and HIV post-exposure prophylaxis (nPEP). We care for patients of all genders ages 13 and above with concerns for STIs, including gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis, and HIV.We provide care in several locations, including MGH-Boston, the MGH-Chelsea Health Center, the Massachusetts Alliance of Portuguese Speakers (MAPS), Boston GLASS at the Justice Resource Institute (JRI), and the Boston Alliance of Gay and Lesbian Youth (BAGLY).The Staff Nurse works collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to enhance the delivery of patient care for patients in Sexual Health Clinic (SHC).This part-time position supports a pilot initiative to increase SHC access for underserved populations and is grant-funded through September 30, 2025. The leadership of the Sexual Health Clinic is working to extend funding beyond that date. The hours for this position are flexible, but may be expected to include evening and/or Saturday morning clinic sessions or other community events, up to 20 hours per week.Principal Duties And ResponsibilitiesCLINICALCollaborate closely with the NP and /or Attending Physician to coordinate and implement the comprehensive plan of care.Triage calls and respond to referrals from and about prospective new patients.Provide education and follow up for patients regarding sexual health, STIs (sexually transmitted infection)/HIV prevention and transmission, harm reduction, treatment of STIs, and/or HIV PrEP/PEP.See patients during outpatient clinic sessions as needed for sexual health risk assessment, HIV/STI testing, STI treatment and care coordination.Perform prior authorizations for specialty medications.Work closely with the clinic’s benefits manager and Patient Financial Services (PFS) to assist patients with insurance coverage and to facilitate enrollment in PrEP/nPEP drug assistance programs as appropriate.QUALITY/ADMINISTRATIVE Identifies and helps to resolve service delivery problems and recommends methods to improve and streamline services. Participates in Division quality assurance activities as needed. Participates in weekly clinic staff meetings.
