We are recruiting for three (3) positions with this job posting: 60054244, 60053958 and 65026109. Your application will be considered for all positions.
Position will be home-based in the Eastern region of the state and applicants should reside in Wayne, Wilson, Nash, Halifax, Bertie, Pitt, Craven, Beaufort, Washington, Pasquotank or contiguous counties.
The Nurse Consultant I position in the Adult Care Licensure Section involves regulatory activities to determine compliance with state requirements for assisted living facilities and overnight respite programs.
Job responsibilities include the following:
  • Work both independently or as a member of a professional health care team conducting on-site inspections of licensed adult care homes and overnight respite programs to determine the facility's compliance with licensure rules and statutes.
  • Analyze survey findings and determining compliance with applicable rules and statutes then documenting findings in a legally defensible manner.
  • Provide technical assistance to facilities and potential providers.
  • Provide regulatory oversight and technical assistance to county Department of Social Services (DSS) staff.
  • Position duties involve significant oral and written communication with facilities, staff and public.
Position requires frequent travel and works in the field conducting inspections. Travel is mainly in the assigned region and requires occasional to frequent overnights depending on the inspection schedule. Position uses their personal vehicle for travel but may use a rental car or state vehicle if available. Travel expenses, including food, lodging, and transportation, are compensated by the State of North Carolina at the NC Office of State Budget and Management's established rates.

About the Division of Health Service Regulation and the Adult Care Licensure Section:
The Division of Health Service Regulation (DHSR) provides for the health, safety and well-being of individuals through effective regulatory and remedial activities including appropriate consultation and training opportunities and by improving access to health care delivery systems through the rational allocation of needed facilities and services.
The Adult Care Licensure Section assures that the mandated standards of care are provided for the health, safety, and well-being of North Carolina's citizens receiving services in adult care homes. The primary function of this Section is to license, regulate and provide technical assistance to adult care homes enhanced by the development of appropriate rules and provision of training and consultation to homes and county Department of Social Services staff.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies
