Job Description:
We are looking for a committed Attorney to represent the government in court for criminal cases, based in Illinois. The ideal candidate will be adept in delivering quality legal service and advice while promoting the government's mission. You will be joining our team of skilled legal professional and work to protect and advance the interest of the government and its citizens.
Key Responsibilities:
- Represent the government in courtrooms for criminal cases, presenting facts, arguing on matters of law, and advocating the government's interests.
- Prepares legal documents such as pleadings, briefs, appeal forms, and other legal documents as required.
- Conduct legal research to assist in case preparation and legal proceedings, maintaining a comprehensive knowledge of current laws and legal updates.
- Prepare for and attend pre-trial hearings, trials, and post-trial hearings as required, ensuring all necessary documentation is in order.
- Work collaboratively with law enforcement agencies, witnesses, court staff, and other legal professionals.
- Advises government officials on legal rights, obligations, and other legal matters.
- Assure the highest levels of confidentiality and ethical standards.
Qualifications:
- JD degree from an accredited law school.
- Must be licensed to practice law in the state of Illinois.
- Basic experience in the legal field is preferred, though we are open to all candidates regardless of years of experience.
- Knowledge of courtroom procedures, legal protocols, and the criminal law system.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Strong research and report writing skills.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
- Excellent ethical judgment and professional integrity.
- Must be willing to submit to a thorough background check.
