JOB SUMMARY:
Work with Purchasing Director and Manager to ensure and maintain a cost effective, reliable, continuous flow of high-quality materials, equipment, supplies and services to support the GCG operations.
JOB DUTIES:
- Work closely with vendors and internal customers Identify purchasing needs
- Collaborate with other departments to determine optimal inventory levels/delivery schedules
- Utilize Microsoft NAV for forecasting and planning materials and goods
- Manage inventory levels, obsolete product, recycling programs
- Anticipate possible supply shortages & create strategy to rectify
- Negotiate with vendors to ensure best pricing and delivery, and support resolution of performance and delivery issues
- Perform day to day purchase activities including but not limited to processing requisitions, issuing purchase orders, obtaining vendor confirmations, verifying promise dates, and confirming product.
- Review and maintain quotes and acknowledgements
- Develop an efficient and accurate system for monitoring open purchase orders
- Create and maintain ERP data/pricing MRP configuration
- Coordinate logistics – GCG pick-ups / follow-ups and expediting
- Work with inventory management team to ensure all deliveries satisfy purchase order
- Reconcile invoice and accounts payable transactions
- Create and publish inventory and PO reports as requested
- Cross train with other buyers for back up coverage
- Special projects and duties as needed
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 1-3 years of purchasing or related experience preferred
- Purchasing or supply chain certifications a plus
- International business, purchasing, import and customs experience a plus
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook are required
- ERP Experience required - Microsoft NAV a plus
- Inventory/warehouse experience a plus
- Display superior verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to interact well with vendors, office staff, warehouse staff and all facets of operations
- Must display initiative and ability to self-manage
- Must possess excellent planning and time management skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions
- Detail orientated with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to perform arithmetic computations
