Title: Vice President, Sales & Marketing
Reporting relationship: Reports directly to the CEO & Company Board of Managers
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY
The Vice President Sales & Marketing has primary responsibility for generating sales for the Company, including:
• Increase sales with existing customers through consistent communication, excellent customer service and development of new products to meet their needs and the Company’s profit requirements.
• Generate sales from new customers through marketing, direct sales, on-line engagement, channel development and industry networking.
• Provide leadership and direction of the Company sales, marketing and customer service functions. Develop and implement sales and marketing strategy to achieve realistic Company sales goals.
• Direct the Company's New Product Development efforts to develop new products which will increase sales and profit.
• Manage and formulate on-line and electronic strategies to increase sales of the Company's products, including oversight of Company’s outside contractors, website, SEO, on-line marketing and related content development.
• Sales Channel management and development of various sales channels utilized by the Company including Amazon, direct ship programs, influencers, dealer network and other non-traditional channels.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Sales & Marketing Management. Direct and coordinate the Company’s sales and marketing functions, including brand positioning and “go to market” strategies.
2. Staff Management. Supervision of Company’s sales and customer service staff as well as on-line sales and marketing vendors.
3. Goals. Establish and implement short- and long-range goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures. Create annual sales goals with the senior management team. Analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of sales, methods, costs, and results through monthly reporting.
4. Market Assessment and Product Development. Understanding of current market position, product needs, and emerging trends to identify opportunities to develop new products, packaging, distribution, and promotion options that support brand development and sales growth. Participate in the development of new products with the senior management team, and present proposals to potential customers.
5. Sales Strategy Formulation. Develop a sales channel strategy for current and future products that maximizes long term sales and profit for the Company.
Marketing & On-Line Sales
• Recruit, supervise and manage on-line vendors involved in operating the Company’s website, generating on-line sales, content creation, electronic advertising and other strategies to increase sales.
• Work closely with on-line consultants, vendors and other providers to operate a strong, professional website that supports Lamson’s brand vision, creates customer loyalty and generates sales. Develop influencer relationships to increase sales and brand awareness.
• Marketing Materials & Content Creation. Supervise the planning, development and creation of Company marketing and communications materials, including brochures, web marketing initiatives, exhibits, trade show participation, promotional activities, etc. Also work with internal resources and outside contractors to develop strong video and other on-line promotions.
• Manage Amazon sales channel, including products offered, vendor selection and support, adverting placement, and promotion offers and all facets of Amazon relationship to increase sales and manage margins.
Direct Sales & Customer Service Team Development
• Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate department staff to ensure that the Company has ‘the right people in the right place’ within the sales and marketing organization. The Vice President will have authority for all hiring, firing, promotion and compensation programs within the sales and marketing department.
• Personally manage major customer relationships and high-opportunity potential new accounts. Coordinate the management of all other accounts with strong, professional customer service.
• Create a Customer Service function to provide cautious and responsive customer service as a competitive advantage. Recommend and administer policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in customer interaction.
• Develop appropriate incentive compensation systems to reward exceptional employee performance and develop training programs to improve productivity, product quality, and customer satisfaction.
Budgeting, Expense Management & Reporting
• Develop and manage the Company’s sales and marketing budget. Manage expenses to ensure highly efficient utilization of resources.
• Prepare and disseminate timely and accurate sales reports on a monthly and annual basis by product (SKU), customer, and channel.
Senior Management Presence. Participate as a member of the Company’s senior management team, offering advice and counsel to further the Company’s success, including participation in the following areas:
Manufacturing & Production- Work closely with operations personnel to improve product quality and production efficiency. Provide the “voice of the customer” to ensure production and operations departments understand what is required to satisfy customers and, conversely, understand production requirements to effectively produce products.
Corporate Development- Identify and review potential acquisitions and new business opportunities.
