University of Missouri School of Medicine Department of Psychiatry Clinical Addiction Psychiatrist - Physician-Scientist Tenure-Tenure Track, All Ranks The University of Missouri for School of Medicine (SOM), MU Health Care (MUHC), and the Missouri Psychiatric Center (MUPC) are seeking an Addiction Psychiatrist with expertise in Psychopharmacology or Non-invasive neural stimulation and a program of research.
The successful applicant will have tremendous opportunities to work in an established team-science environment. Addiction research represents one of the strengths at MU. MU investigators possess significant strength in human laboratory-based research of substance use disorders. As of May 1, 2020, NIH supports 14 projects across 11 different MU investigators to research substance use disorders. MU is also home to a long-standing NIAAA T32 training grant supporting graduate students and postdoctoral fellows.

Core Job Responsibilities: - 50% Clinical 50% Funded Research
- Maintain extramural grant funding
- Collaborate with existing addiction scientists at MU by participating in Phase II and/or Phase III randomized clinical trials.
- Develop and execute objectives through independent research, team projects, or managing outsourced research activities to maximize efficiency.
- Prepare and communicate presentation of scientific strategy related to programs, data, and interpretation to audiences at different levels of knowledge and expertise
- Maintains expert knowledge of state-of-the-art principles/theories related to addiction science and treatment.
Required Qualifications: - MD/DO
- BC in Psychiatry
- BE in Addiction Psychiatry
Preferred Qualifications Include: - 0-3+ years of relevant post-graduate experience, K or R awarded researcher
- Publication record demonstrating expertise in addiction neuroscience
- Hands-on experience with successful initiation and completion of projects related to cellular, molecular, or systems neuroscience. Clear examples of individual achievement and team achievement.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience in molecular, cellular, circuit-based, epigenetics, or gene therapy approach
