JOB DESCRIPTION DETAILSnnJob Summary :nnTo assess, plan, implement the nursing care to meet the patients’ needs, by following the appropriate policy and procedures of the assigned department.nnTo make the patient feel at ease about their surgical experience by explaining hospital routines and performing nursing procedures that will take place pre-operatively, intra-operatively, and post-operatively. Also, to ensure patient is in optimal health to have surgery by assessing medical history and evaluating laboratory work, x-rays, and EKG's. After surgery, when patient is stable and their pain is well managed, discharge patient to home environment with detailed discharge instructions.nnEducation :nnPosition requires completion of a Diploma Nursing Program or an Associate Degree in Nursing (AA) or higher.nnRegistration/Certification/Licensure :nnUnexpired state licensure from Maryland Board of Nursing or compact state board of nursingnnRegistered Nurse Certification in specialty, preferrednnExperience :nnPosition requires 1-2 years of related experience.nnOther Requirements :nnMaintains unit-specific and hospital competencies, mandatory learning, and any clinical certifications required in accordance with the Staff Education and Training policy GA-057 and/or any other department requirements.nnCAPA DesirednnDemonstrated proficiency of computer skills necessary to effectively complete position requirements to include Microsoft Office applications with an emphasis on Excel, Access, Word and Outlook.nnMaintain unit specific and hospital competencies in accordance with policy requirementsnnPrevious experience and demonstrated professionalism in effectively communicating with internal and external customers, both verbally and in writing, and in promoting a positive work atmosphere.nnAbility to work independently, prioritize concurrent projects, meet deadlines, follow through with deliverables, and produce quality work.nnEffectively communicates with all patient populations and staff by implementing organization-wide communication techniques as a daily practice.nnEffectively advocates for quality patient safety and satisfaction as a daily practice.
