Salary Range: $46.39 - $63.95nnPay rates are determined based on experience and internal equity.nnPosition Summary:nnThis position reports to the Director of Perioperative Services.nnPlans, coordinates and implements patient care for primarily Special Procedure patients.nnDemonstrates quality and effectiveness in work habits and clinical practice.nnRemains flexible to changing systems.nnSupports other nursing areas within the Perioperative Services and General Nursing department by floating when needed after appropriate orientation.nnTreats patients, families, visitors, peers and physicians with consideration and respect.nnWorks well under stress and with tight deadlines.nnCommunicates concerns appropriately using the established chain of command.nnDistrict ResponsibilitynnSupports the District mission, vision and values statements.nnDemonstrate respect, professionalism and courtesy to all patients, visitors, other providers and coworkers, as delineated in the LVMC “Commitment to Care”.nnConsistently uses C-I-CARE principles when communicating with others.nnMaintains all principles of confidentiality according to District policy and as required by State and Federal agencies.nnFollows guidelines and practices identified in the Employee Handbook.nnParticipates in continuous quality improvement activities within the unit and within the Nursing Department.nnCompletes hospital-wide skills competencies annually.nnComplies with annual PPD and FIT testing.nnMaintains responsibility for own professional development.nnPosition Duties/Responsibilities:nnDemonstrates proficiency in the care of patients in the Perioperative Services and General Services area after appropriate orientation to each area, throughout entire patient continuum.nnAssists Perioperative Services and General Nursing Services team with scheduled and emergent special procedures.nnAssists in procedure with patient assessment, screening, monitoring, medication administration, positioning, patient transportation, discharge, and education.nnDemonstrates proper handling of pathology specimens per hospital policy.nnParticipates in handling all procedures and equipment that pertains to each area, per department and organizational policy.nnSpecial Procedure schedules vary related to the number of cases, the Special Procedure RN recognizes some days may be call off days, with some days being longer.nnUnderstands the need to take call according to department needs.nnWilling to be trained to assist with technical aspects of procedures (handling biopsy forceps, snares, scope handling, and physician assistance).nnDemonstrates the knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and the skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.nnIs able to interpret data about the patient’s status to identify each patient’s age specific needs and to provide the care and supplies needed appropriate to the patient’s age group.nnDemonstrates the ability to function as a team member within the unit and the department.nnDemonstrates the ability to have positive personal interactions with staff, patients, visitors and physicians.nnAccepts appropriate supervision.nnEssential Functions:nnThe ability to perform all aspects of Special Procedure RN’s job duties in Perioperative Services Department and General Nursing Services, which includes standing or walking for prolonged periods of time, bending, gripping, grasping, stooping, kneeling, pushing and pulling.nnThe ability to use word processing programs and patient EMR systems.nnMaintains nursing license following the Scope of Practice for Registered Nursing and any certifications required for Perioperative Services Department.nnDemonstrates the ability to have positive personal interactions with staff, patients, visitors and physicians.nnDemonstrates strong skills in interpretation and comprehension in cardiac rhythms, hemodynamics, airway management, pharmacology, pathophysiology, and history and physical assessment.nnDemonstrates strong critical thinking skills and ability to work under pressure.nnDemonstrates strong communication skills.nnPosition Qualifications:nnEducation: Current California license as an RN.nnExperience: Previous experience with the care of patients in all areas with demonstrated leadership abilities.nnCertifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS required, ECG interpretation.nnSkills/Ability: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Computer skills preferred. Exhibits the ability to organize work assignments and follow through with accuracy.
