We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Software Process Support Engineer to join our team in Tewksbury, Massachusetts. This role is pivotal in supporting and optimizing our software development processes, ensuring smooth operations and the continuous improvement of our engineering practices. As a Software Process Support Engineer, you will work closely with engineering, quality assurance, and project management teams to drive process efficiency and maintain quality standards throughout the software development lifecycle.

What You Will Do

Process Improvement: Identify areas for improvement in software development and deployment processes. Recommend and implement changes to enhance efficiency, productivity, and quality.

DoD-Compliant Trusted Downloads Management: Take full responsibility for managing and verifying DoD-compliant trusted download meet DoD standards for compliance and security.

Support & Troubleshooting: Provide support to development teams, troubleshooting process-related issues and guiding teams on best practices for workflow and process compliance.

Documentation & Standards: Create and maintain process documentation, ensuring alignment with company standards and industry best practices. Ensure all teams have access to the latest process guidelines.

Quality Assurance: Collaborate with QA teams to integrate quality control measures and testing practices within the development process, ensuring product integrity and performance standards.

Metrics & Reporting: Collect, analyze, and report on key performance metrics related to process efficiency, quality, and productivity. Use insights to drive data-based improvements and inform management.

General Support: Provide general support to software development teams in the development, maintenance and sustainment of software products and related customer deliverables.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) or related field and a minimum of 5 years of experience.
  • Experience in software development, particularly in a support or process engineering capacity.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for tracking, reporting, and documentation.  
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance. 

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Active Secret security clearance.
  • Certification in Lean, Six Sigma, or related process improvement methodologies.
  • Familiarity with common DoD standards, such as NIST, DFARS, and CMMC
  • Familiarity with DevOps principles and experience with automation tools
  • Experience with DoD compliance and security standards, particularly in managing and verifying DoD-compliant trusted downloads 
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and provide clear process guidance.

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills. Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.
