Sr. Java SQL Middleware Engineer

6month Contract to Hire

Pay Range: $70.00 - $85.00 / Salary Target: $150K - $170K

Job Description:

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Java SQL Middleware Engineer to join our clients team. As part of the development team, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and supporting our middleware services and applications. This role requires a deep understanding of Java, SQL, and cloud technologies, and the ability to integrate complex systems in a scalable and reliable manner. The ideal candidate will have experience working with middleware technologies in cloud environments (AWS preferred), along with a strong background in microservices, SOA, and service mesh architectures.

Required Skills:

• 5+ years of experience in software engineering, focusing on middleware, Java development, and SQL
• Experience working with cloud platforms, preferably AWS
• Strong experience with middleware technologies and integrating systems in an enterprise environment
• Advanced knowledge of Java (Spring, Spring Boot, Hibernate) for backend development
• Extensive experience with SQL, designing databases, optimizing queries, and working with relational databases (Oracle, MySQL, etc.)
• Knowledge and hands-on experience with microservices architectures and service-oriented architectures (SOA)

Bonus/Soft Skills:

• Familiarity with service mesh technologies (e.g., Istio, Linkerd)
• Experience working in financial services, payment services, or edtech is a major plus
• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git), and CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with Oracle databases and/or cloud database solutions
• Knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and serverless architecture
• Familiarity with API Gateways and RESTful services
• Experience with DevOps practices or infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation)
