Job Summary:
The Occupational Therapist is responsible for the evaluation and treatment of various orthopedic, neurological, general and complex medical conditions in the inpatient and/or outpatient settings. Evaluation and treatment is based on functional outcomes and utilizes, but is not limited to, Activities of Daily Living skills, therapeutic activities and exercise, manual techniques, and therapeutic modalities.
Education, Required Licenses/Certifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution with a curriculum which is approved by the American Occupational Therapy Association.
Must be eligible for licensure to practice occupational therapy in the State of New Hampshire.
Essential Functions:

Is viewed as a resource in the department when dealing with issues of systems and resources and accomplishing tasks in the most efficient and effective ways.
Responsible for the evaluation of patients with various functional disabilities in order to achieve optimal functional performance. Service may include evaluation of inpatients, outpatients, nursing home patients or home care patients.

Takes appropriate action on all physician orders applicable to specific assignment.
Administers therapy to patients in accordance with prescribing physician's orders, as well as New Hampshire Occupational Therapy Practice Act, Hospital/departmental policies and standards established by regulatory agencies.
Completes all evaluations, re-evaluations, treatment plans, and other documentation pertinent to the patient/client on a timely basis and in accordance with specific assignment documentation criteria.
Assesses the patient for risk or potential of neglect or abuse. Makes referrals as appropriate.
Demonstrates the ability to provide effective pain assessment, prevention and management. Reports complaints of pain to appropriate medical personnel.
Responsible for individual patient/client schedules.
Contributes to discharge planning with regard to home programs, community resources, and referrals for continued treatment.
Participates in the preparation and provision of educational in-service activities within the department, Hospital and community.
Takes an active role in student affiliation training programs.
Provides group or individual activities as appropriate for swing and ICF patients in response to their physical, intellectual, social, spiritual, and emotional needs.
Completes activity assessments and weekly summaries as needed.
Documents on the activity participation log as appropriate.
Achieves an acceptable level of productivity based on the clinical areas worked thereby contributing to departmental overall productivity goal.
Willingly provides competent coverage in other Occupational Therapy areas when required.
Demonstrates technical aptitude. Is familiar with computer applications. Is willing to learn software applications.
