We have an opportunity with OrthoCarolina for a PRN Radiology Technologist for our Float Pool . This position can work on an as needed basis and can work in any practice in our central and/or south regional locations including Fort Mill and Indian Land (South Carolina) . Typical coverage needed would be Monday-Friday and could be day shift (8am-5pm) or evening shifts (5pm-8pm).
The Radiology Technologist will provide diagnostic quality radiographs for physicians and/or physician assistants while protecting employees and patients from unnecessary radiation and usage of appropriate protection standards.
- Demonstrates competency in positioning of all radiological procedures as prescribed by departmental policy.
- Communicates with patients to explain procedures, obtain clinical history, confirm acknowledgment of patients' understanding and address any questions or concerns.
- Positions patients and selects exposure factors for various radiologic examinations and provides patient with radiation protection and safety in accordance with prescribed methods.
- Cleans and makes minor adjustments to radiology equipment and ensures equipment is in working order and reports equipment malfunctions to Radiology Manager or designee.
- Prepares copies of x-ray films/CD's for patients, tests, surgery and physicians as required.
- Logs radiological procedures completed, processes charges and related paperwork using computer equipment as directed.
- Maintains cleanliness of examination rooms and stocks necessary medical and/or radiological supplies in the department. Compliance with all OrthoCarolina policy and procedures.
- Assists with the transportation of patients between the examination module(s) and the Radiology department. Assist with patient flow in the examination module(s) as directed by a supervisor.

Education required:
- Graduate of a Radiologic Technologist program approved by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and the American Medical Association.
Experience required:
- Minimum of one year experience as an x-ray tech with an orthopedic background.
Professional license or certification requirements:
- Registered Radiology Tech by American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (AART) or ARRT registry eligible.
- Current CPR certification recommended.
- Reliable transportation for travel to provide staffing coverage and attend meetings at satellite locations/main office.
Preferred Skills:
- Ability to operate various manufacturer types of Radiology suite equipment, (i.e. Siemens/GE/Philips).
- Skill in proficient use of various manufacturer types of Digital Radiology (DR) and Computer Radiology (CR) reader systems.
- Skill in identifying equipment problems and correcting or notifying supervisor.
- Skill in positioning patients properly and performing quality diagnostic radiographs.
- Observes safety and security procedures.
- Knowledge of vendors to contact in the event of a need for maintenance and/or repair.
- Ability to add, subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, percentage and interpret bar graphs.
- Knowledge of computers, including MS Outlook, IDX, Touchworks, PACS, Intranet, photocopy equipment and fax.
- Knowledge of radiology equipment including safety hazards common to radiology; x-ray procedures and protocols; anatomy and physiology necessary to perform x-ray procedures including body mechanics, patient movement and positioning for exams.
