District: Union County Public Schools We are looking for an occupational therapist with three years of pediatric experience to fill a full time itinerant OT position with an anticipating start for the 24-25 school year. Continued employment after completion of the school year will be based on outcomes. Must have completed initial certification by National Board for Certification of Occupational Therapy and currently hold a license by the NC Board of Occupational Therapy. Physical requirements include the independent mobility to travel to different school sites and access all areas of school, ability to carry materials/equipment to and around schools, ability to interact physically with children in classroom and treatment room. Must possess adequate fine motor skills to teach and model various fine motor skills. Must be able to manage students, especially those with behavioral challenges. Need to be able to read English and communicate efficiently and understandably in the English language in both oral and written formats. Must be able to type written reports and complete documentation using a county wide system in a timely manner. Must have the skills to determine the need for an occupational therapy evaluation and to select and administer appropriate assessment tools to evaluate the student. Need to interpret the evaluation data and write a comprehensive report that reflects strengths and barriers to student's participation and occupational performance. Must be able to participate collaboratively with multi-disciplinary educational teams, including parents, to understand areas of concern and to assist with the development of an Individualized Education Program to meet student needs. Need to have the ability to develop occupationally based intervention plans based of evaluation information. Need to be able to provide evidence based OT intervention to improve student's performance skills and participation and adjust accordingly based on student outcomes. The ability to adapt and modify environments, equipment, and materials including assistive technology. Knowledge of human development throughout the life span and integrate with student's unique developmental status. Knowledge and appreciation of the influence of disabilities, socio-cultural and socioeconomic factors on student's ability to participate in occupations. Knowledge and use of occupational therapy theories, models of practice, principles, and evidence based practice to guide intervention decisions. Communicate and establish rapport with all people, including those from different cultural/ethnic backgrounds. Ability to show initiative and self-sufficiency.
