About the Job

Position Working Title: Payroll Coordinator
Term: Type: 12 months
The University of Minnesota Morris is seeking a Payroll Coordinator to oversee payroll entry, confirmation, and time and absence management for over 350 non-student employees. This position will also assist with HR coordinator duties, including talent acquisition and general HR tasks. In this position, some of your core responsibilities will include:

  • Payroll and HRMS Coordination (Primary): You will be responsible for the entry and maintenance of data in the human resources management system. This role involves managing HRMS data, processing Personnel Action Forms, and using TeamDynamix for new hires and employment changes. You'll review payroll reports, handle adjustments, and assist with time and absence inquiries, ensuring proper approvals and resolving discrepancies.
  • Talent Acquisition support: This role supports managers with job postings and hiring tickets, and monitors the hiring process. You'll conduct I-9 verifications, maintain E-Verify accuracy, and provide onboarding orientation, including payroll and the MyU portal.
  • Human Resources support: In consultation with the Assistant Director, this role advises on work rules and bargaining agreements, supports performance appraisals, and assists with University programs. You'll maintain records and serve as a liaison for Morris FMLA and Workers Compensation, resolving issues between the campus and central operations.
  • Financial Reporting/Analysis and Budget Preparation: This role monitors payroll accounts, assists with budgeting, prepares journal entries, reconciles the General Ledger, and reviews and pays sales tax under the Finance Manager's direction, along with other assigned duties.
Qualifications

What you will need:

  • Bachelor degree or a combination of related education and experience to equal four years.

Preferred knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Demonstrated experience with payroll and/or human resource management systems.
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint software and Google applications.
  • Working knowledge of University of Minnesota policies and procedures.
  • Experience with University of Minnesota PeopleSoft Human Resources system.
  • Experience with University of Minnesota Enterprise Financial System.
  • Proven analytical, organizational and general office best practice skills.
  • Demonstrated good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Outstanding customer services skills.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $52,291.20 - $55,000; depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment: 75%-100% Appointment

Position Type: Civil-Service & Non-Faculty Labor Represented Staff
