This job was posted by : For more information, please see: TechniciannnReports To: Maintenance ManagernnShift: 7 a.m. 5 p.m., Monday Friday, on call at all timesnnPrimary Job Objective:nnEnsure the safe and continuous operations of the Utility program, including facility boilers, water softeners, cooling towers, a de-aeration tank, a feedwater tank, chemical pumps and a chiller through preventive and predictive maintenance as well as in unexpected situations at PureField.nnTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.nnEssential FunctionsnnCommunicate with Plant, Production and Maintenance management as well as maintenance personnel on Utility program operationsnConduct daily walk through of Utility program equipment to verify equipment is operating efficiently, correctly and safelynPerform low water cutout tests to ensure boiler shutdown will occur if an unsafe water level existsnChemically treat the boilers with an inhibitor to avoid scale and corrosionnFill water softener brine tank with water softener salt dailynObtain samples and test Utility waters for hardness, chemical levels, pH and conductivity, chemically correct as requirednObtain and record pressures and temperatures of de-aeration and feedwater tanknCollect samples and check for oxygen levels in the de-aeration and feedwater tank, remove oxygen and carbon dioxide as necessarynCheck and record chiller water and oil pressure from control panelnRepair the chemical pumps as needed to maintain the proper chemical levels in the boilers, cooling towers and chillernManage all levels of chemical usage and maintain inventorynVisually inspect the black fill in cooling tower for bacteria and slimenAccomplish microbiological control in cooling towers with the use of chlorine, biocide and dispersant, pumps, shock tank feeder, and MB Dip Slides.nAssist general maintenance as requestednCollect samples and test cooling tower water for bacteria, yeast and fungi, record results and make chemical adjustments as needed to control infectionsnGrease cooling tower pumps as needednAttend monthly safety meetingsnAdditional duties, as assignednnNature and Scope:nnThe boiler technician reports directly to the Maintenance Manager, and indirectly reports to Plant Managers, Maintenance Supervisors and Production Superintendents. Will receive work instructions and direction from key members of operations.nnNecessary Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesnnKnowledgennMachines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenancenRelevant safety equipment, policies and proceduresnnSkillsnnMonitoring equipmentnSelecting appropriate tools and equipmentnPerforming routine maintenance and controlling operationsnnAbilitiesnnExert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects.nKeep hand and arm steadynTell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrongnQuickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positionsnQuickly move hand, or two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objectsnWork and cooperate with all members of PureField Ingredients in a professional and courteous mannernnMinimum QualificationsnnBasic knowledge of general machinery maintenancenA desire and willingness to learn the Utility program.nCommunication, analytical and documentation skills are a must.nPhysical ability to perform the funct ons of the positionnn(Most job knowledge is acquired through on-the-job experience)nnPhysical Demands:nnThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
