Description

Join Leidos as a Senior Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) Engineer on our Defense Enclave Services (DES) team, playing a vital role in a transformative digital modernization initiative that is critical to the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) and the Department of Defense (DoD) Fourth Estate Agencies.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and manage cutting-edge virtual desktop infrastructures within the Azure IL5 and IL6 cloud environments, ensuring seamless connectivity with DoD Fourth Estate Agency systems.

  • Support the development and upkeep of privileged access workstations (PAW), ensuring optimal security and performance.

  • Oversee VDI resource pools within Azure IL5 and IL6 environments to guarantee efficient and reliable operations.

  • Create and customize virtual desktop images tailored to the unique needs of each DoD agency, enhancing individual user experiences.

  • Proactively monitor and address any issues within the VDI infrastructure by collaborating closely with Tier 1-2 service desk teams.

  • Identify and capitalize on opportunities to innovate and enhance the VDI domain, focusing on improving user experience and operational efficiencies.

  • Uphold security best practices and guidelines, leveraging knowledge of security policies, network security, and data protection.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with 8-12 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with 6-10 years of relevant experience.

  • Eligibility for a DoD Secret clearance.

  • Expertise in designing, establishing, and maintaining VDI environments, such as Azure Virtual Desktop, VMware Horizon, Amazon WorkSpaces, Citrix, or similar platforms.

  • Understanding of Federal Government application, server, and network security regulations including NIST, FedRAMP, and FISMA.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, promoting effective collaboration within a distributed technical team.

  • Familiarity with the Atlassian suite, including Jira and Confluence for project management and documentation.

  • Current IAT Level II (or higher) certification such as Security+ or CISSP.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active DoD Secret clearance.

  • Experience in delivering VDI solutions for U.S. Government clients.

  • Relevant certifications like Microsoft Certified Azure Virtual Desktop Specialty, or VMware Certified Professional - End-User Computing.
