Job Description

We are working on a possible temp to perm role with a top apparel company based in Secaucus, NJ. Focus on Womens apparel including RTW and dresses. Experienced strong Technical Designer provides technical support for the Supply Chain through strong technical proficiency and organization. They will work with cross functional partners to achieve correct garment fit, and design details from design inception through top of production within the required calendar milestone. The position collaborates with various departments and factories to achieve and maintain corporate standards for fit and quality for designated product categories.
Responsibilities:

  • Open to Sr or Technical Design level - Work closely with Design and Product Development during proto development to ensure design intent is achieved, while meeting the fit standard, and keeping garment construction commercially viable.
  • Create and maintain PLM spec sheets, sample requests, fit comments, construction standards, grading, style status/ tracking charts for assign product categories.
  • Manage block, proto, and production fittings. Measure and prepare all samples and required documents prior to fit sessions.
  • Update all fit notes and revised size specs into PLM in a timely manner.
  • Maintain existing block library, and approval sample closets.
  • Periodically evaluate fit relative to the competition to determine our continued fit consistency within the industry. Collaborate with Design and Merchandising to update, elevate, and identify new blocks as needed.
  • Partner with Product Development in analyzing new factory capability for workmanship and quality as needed.
  • Review quality issues related to production garment spec and/ or construction concerns. Have ability to evaluate the issue, suggest potential impact on customer experience, and suggest corrective action plan when appropriate.
  • Provide workload support across product categories if needed during critical busy periods
Required Qualifications:
  • Strong time management/project management skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Photoshop, Illustrator
  • MS Office, incl. Excel, MS Outlook
  • Strong background in women's RTW
  • Strong patternmaking skills
  • PLM a plus
