Description BASIC JOB SUMMARY: The overall purpose of the Construction Technician is to work construction and maintenance of aerial and buried plant facilities. Job requires familiarity with industry concepts, practices, and procedures. Performs a variety of tasks. Relies on experience, judgment, and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
ESSENTIAL JON FUNCTIONS: The essential job functions and duties described below may not be the only requirements of the position. It may be necessary to follow other instructions or perform other related duties as required by the company.
- May work construction of copper and fiber optic installations, additions, and repair jobs
- Maintains upkeep of vehicles and equipment
- May load and unload necessary materials for construction, maintenance, and tear downs and operate a personal vehicle. May require a commercial driver's license
- Must follow and adhere to all standard operating procedures to promote safety including utilizing necessary safety equipment on all jobs
- Follow safe work practices and adheres to the TEC safety handbook and OSHA guidelines
- May require the ability to operate various construction machinery including backhoe, mini track, cable plows, trenchers, bucket trucks, and other machines
- May operate trucks with trailers, may require ability to back a trailer and load / unload equipment
- May operate Facilities Management (FM) system including updating and closing trouble tickets and service orders. May require proficient use of a computer for processing trouble tickets and service orders
- May require travel to on-site work locations using a personal vehicle or a company vehicle, therefore, a valid personal driver's license and adequate insurance coverage on the personal vehicle is required at all times.
- May operate various construction machinery and equipment, and vehicles applicable to the job, safely and efficiently
- May operate the Company's computer tracking system in an efficient and timely manner

Requirements Job Qualifications: Education/Experience - High school diploma or GED preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities - Experience in and familiarity with advanced communication industry and Company
concepts, practices, and procedures are required. Requires an understanding of telephone plant construction and related equipment and written and verbal communication skills. Approximately Two (2) to Five (5) years of experience in general construction work, preferred.
