A Construction Superintendent at Bethlehem Construction is responsible for leading the erection, repair and modification of precast concrete structures. The Construction Superintendent's work involves a combination of duties and responsibilities that include, but are not limited to:
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinates all phases of building erection at the jobsite, including supervising, planning, organizing, scheduling and delegation
- Create a precast concrete structures erection sequence, follow schedules and finish jobs in a timely manner and within constraints of budget. Communicate progress to Project Manager.
- Leading the production team by training, coaching and supporting to achieve safety, quality and production targets
- Scheduling manpower and assigning/organizing the work of the Foreman and crews (tying rebar, pouring concrete, erecting concrete, setting forms, etc.)
- Reads blue prints, sketches and follows oral instructions
- Lay out buildings
- Coordinating incoming panels and supplies to ensure uninterrupted production, by researching prices for supply purchases, equipment costs and equipment rentals
- Retain order and appearance of production areas that meet the standards of BCI's commitment to safety and quality
- Reporting production data and use reports to actively manage key elements of project completion
- Conduct Job Site Safety Orientation
- Conduct weekly "Toolbox Topics" Safety Meetings; make sure employees are working safely with proper PPE usage and following established safety policies
- Verify crews' arrival to work and leaving on time each day; approves crew workhours for payroll
- Performance Reviews, Discipline and/or Terminations of Employees
- Maintaining Company Vehicle and Equipment cleanliness and scheduled preventative maintenance schedules
- Communicates with: Engineers, Project Managers, Architects, General Superintendents (if applicable), Supervisor, Inspector, Other Subcontractors, Surveyors, Labor and Industries
- Completes Daily Reports, as necessary
- Additional duties as assigned
The desired skills and experience for the Construction Superintendent are:
- Minimum of five (5) years of construction management experience.
- Proven experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to read and interpret blue prints
- Concrete Tilt-Up experience, preferred
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency of Microsoft Word and Excel Outlook.
- Self-motivation and positive attitude are essential
- Willingness to work as part of a team
- Ability to communicate at all levels
