Primary Purpose of this Job

The primary purpose of this job is to develop machine programs for lathes with up to 5 axies while collaborating with cross-functional teams comprised of machinists/operators, manufacturing engineers, production supervisors, supply chain representatives, quality engineers/inspectors, and operations/program management to support program schedule & performance goals, mitigate manufacturing risks, and improve operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Develop machining strategies to take designs and produce machined hardware
• Develop CNC Programs, create, modify, and optimize CNC programs for various machining processes, including milling, turning, and multi-axis machining centers.
• Tooling & Fixture Selection: work closely with the engineering team to select appropriate tooling, fixtures, and cutting parameters to ensure the efficient and accurate production of parts.
• Assist machinists with the setup and troubleshooting of CNC machines, ensuring programs are run as intended and resolving any issues during the machining process.
• Develop manufacturing plans for high-volume production.
• Design custom tools and fixtures as needed
• Develop set-up sheets to show geometry alignment from CNC program to the physical workpiece.
• Identify, select, and procure appropriate tooling for job-specific applications (based on part material, geometry, features, tolerances, system rigidity, and equipment capability).
• Releasing programs to the production team that have been validated
• Own process improvement opportunities (reduced machining/setup time, improved part quality)
• Maintain configuration control of files and job records

Qualifications

• Min 5 years working with programming CNC
• Min 5 years working with Mazak machines
• Min 7 years working within a manufacturing environment
• Knowledge of metal alloys and usage within consumer and industrial products

Skilled in:

• Machining principles and GD&T
• Effective oral and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
• Strong ability to operate machines, read instructions, and apply appropriate procedures
• Programming processes in Mastercam 2024
