Status : 3 month contract to hire

Pay: $45.00 per hour during the contract phase (Up to $95,000 upon going perm)

Location: Hybrid (Colorado Springs OR Denver)


Technical Project Manager

Our client is seeking a Technical Project Manager for a contract to hire scenario. The candidate selected for this position will lead a Project Services team of systems engineers. They will be responsible for all aspects of project delivery for our customer-facing and internal projects, ensuring we achieve the quality, schedule, and cost commitment of projects.


This position will manage a portfolio of technical projects with varied degrees of complexity and scope to achieve strategic business goals and operational objectives. They will serve as the primary interface to customers and serve as the primary resource for project services team members on escalated issues.

They will coach this team by using established project management disciplines and processes for managing scope, resource, schedule, risks, issues, and change management. They will drive creative alternatives to project challenges, partner with others to drive standardization across the portfolio of projects and collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met.

Primary Job Functions:

  • Manage the project services team of technical engineers, including mentoring, professional development and performance management of the team.
  • Manage a portfolio of IT projects and effectively monitor and manage risks, issues, and changes in partnership and alignment with customer expectations, staff, and established standards.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to project management methods and practices.
  • Lead, plan, direct, and coordinate activities for complex work efforts to accomplish goals and objectives within the prescribed timeframe and budget.
  • Create and manage project plans related to schedule, budget, scope, and resources.
  • Manage and execute multiple technical project deliverables to control scope.
  • Establish overall project governance, communication with impacted stakeholders and project communication and change management plans.
  • Ensure sound technical engineering is incorporated in project plans by working with technical engineers.
  • Understand each project's critical path activities and proactively manage those to project's benefit.
  • Lead subject matter experts to resolve project challenges.
  • Manage project budgets on the full portfolio of projects.
  • Review and verify all project proposals have appropriate accurate scope definitions, resource and schedule estimates, and risk-based contingency before proposals are delivered to customers.
  • Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead weekly project review with the project services team, vCIO, design desk, and sales staff
  • Recruit, train, and support project services technicians
  • Invoice projects and manage the revenue flow of projects
  • Assist with post-launch customer service issues relating to projects
  • Conduct regular employee reviews and evaluations


Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems or Business Management or 6+ years of direct IT project management experience in lieu of a degree.
  • 3+ years of IT project management experience.
  • Senior practitioner knowledge of project management, infrastructure engineering, and software delivery life cycles.
  • Senior practitioner knowledge of one or more project methodologies (Kanban, PRINCE2, Lean, Six Sigma, PMBOK, etc.)
  • 3+ years of experience using PPM tools to manage a project portfolio (Microsoft Project Server, Daptive, Clarity, etc.)
  • Preferred Experience and Certification:
  • 3+ years of direct customer project management experience at an IT Managed Service Provider
  • 2+ years of experience using Connectwise Manage project management
  • PMP Certification preferred
