Data Center Technician

Contract
We are hiring Data Center Technicians to join our rapidly expanding team. In this role, you will play a key part in the deployment, maintenance, and optimization of critical data center infrastructure, working with cutting-edge cloud computer technologies for a Fortune 500 global technology company.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Network Cabling:
- Install, route, and terminate network and power cables (fiber optic, copper, etc.) within the data center.
- Organize and label cabling according to industry standards to ensure proper cable management.
- Perform regular inspections of cables to detect and resolve issues such as disconnections or wear and tear.
Server Deployment:
- Build and install server racks, including mounting servers, network switches, and power distribution units (PDUs).
- Ensure proper placement and balance of equipment within racks for cooling and power efficiency.
- Assist in provisioning new hardware and decommissioning as necessary.
Data Center Operations:
- Monitor environmental conditions (temperature, humidity) to ensure optimal equipment performance.
- Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient data center.
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols during data center activities.
Collaboration & Documentation:
- Work closely with our vendor team to ensure smooth collaboration and timely completion of tasks.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of cabling layouts, server configurations, and inventory.
- Participate in project planning and execution for data center buildouts and expansions.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 1-3 years of data center or technical work experience, training, or education preferred.
- Experience with network cabling, server rack installation, and data center hardware is preferred.
- Knowledge of fiber optic and copper cabling standards and best practices.
- Ability to use tools such as cable testers, crimpers, and punch-down tools.
- Basic understanding of networking concepts (IP addressing, switches, routers).
- Comfortable working in a physically demanding environment with exposure to hot and cold areas.
- Work on ladders and in confined spaces of the data center as necessary.
- Ability to regularly lift and move up to 50 lbs. of data center equipment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- This is an ongoing contract that will be extended based off team performance.
- As we extend and grow the team, there will be opportunities for advancement into leadership roles.
- Schedule is Monday-Friday from 7:30AM-4:30PM, with two 15-min breaks and one 30-min lunch break.
- Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as protective gloves, safety glasses, ear plugs, and steel-toe or composite-toe boots.
- Must have reliable transportation – data centers are located in Quincy, WA. Weekly travel reimbursement may be provided depending on commute time.
