Registered Nurse (RN) - Observation Unit - PRN III at Norman Regional Health System summary: The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Observation Unit is responsible for providing professional and compassionate nursing care to patients with various medical conditions. This role involves systematic assessment, nursing diagnosis, care implementation, and evaluation of patient outcomes while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. The RN also plays a crucial role in onboarding and mentoring new nurses through an extensive orientation and residency program.

Compensation
- $42/hr. Flat Rate
- Evening differential $2.50/hr.
- Night differential $3.00/hr.
- Weekend differential $3.00/hr.
Our Med/Surg Observation Unit is a fast paced 24 bed telemetry/medical-surgical unit. Common problems seen in our unit include chest pain, syncope, congestive heart failure, pneumonia, and diabetes. Our nurse patient ratio ranges from 4-6 patients depending on acuity. Our care team includes a charge nurse and unit assistants with support from respiratory, lab, and case management departments. We orient new nurses to our unit by providing a 6-8 week orientation program with a dedicated preceptor team, complemented by classroom courses, and a nurse residency program for new graduates. Responsibilities:
Job Summary
RN essential functions include, but are not limited to:
· Assessment/reassessment - Systematically assesses / reassesses the health care needs of individuals; appropriate for specific age groups and patient conditions. Involves patient, family and other healthcare providers as appropriate
· Nursing Diagnosis and Outcomes - Analyzes assessment to determine nursing diagnosis and expected outcomes, involving patient, family and other healthcare providers as appropriate.
· Implementation and Coordination of Care - Provides nursing care through interventions to achieve goals and needs using professional judgement guided by current evidence-based practice, regulations and policy
· Evaluation - Evaluates patient outcomes by utilizing the critical thinking process and evidence based knowledge to recognize problems, evaluate facts and reach sound conclusions.
· Evaluates discharge needs related to plan of care utilizing resources as needed.

Qualifications
Education
Diploma or Associate’s degree (ADN) required, Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), or Master's of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred.
Experience
Previous experience in healthcare field preferred.
Licensure/Certification
Current Oklahoma Registered Nurse license. Basic Life Support (BLS) training or retraining is required during orientation prior to providing patient care. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) is required to be maintained thru re-training for duration of employment
Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
New grads are required to complete Norman Regional's Nurse Residency Program.
Qualifications:

- Previous hospital experience helpful preferred.

Schedule
- This position is either days or nights.
- The weekend requirement is 4 weekend shifts in a 6 week schedule period.
- The holiday requirement is one summer holiday and one winter holiday.
