Title - Program Officer - Climate Science and Social Justice

Requirements
- Education : A degree in Environmental Science, Climate Change, Social Justice, Public Policy, or a related field. Advanced degrees preferred.
- Experience : Minimum of 5 years in a program management role, with experience in climate science, social justice, or related fields.
- Expertise : Deep understanding of the intersection of climate science and social justice issues, including environmental racism, climate adaptation, and equitable policy solutions.
- Skills : Proven ability to manage complex projects, design and evaluate programs, and engage with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Communication : Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to represent the foundation at conferences, in the media, and to diverse audiences.
- Collaboration : Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to build relationships with community leaders, scientists, policy makers, and other stakeholders.
- Commitment to Social Justice : A strong passion for addressing climate-related injustices and advocating for marginalized communities.
Responsibilities:
- Lead Climate and Social Justice Initiatives : Design and manage programs that integrate climate science with a focus on addressing social inequities caused by environmental issues.
- Grant Making : Identify, fund, and support innovative projects that combine climate action with social justice objectives, ensuring that vulnerable communities benefit from sustainable solutions.
- Research and Advocacy : Conduct and support research on the intersection of climate change and social justice, and advocate for policies that promote equitable climate solutions.
- Partnership Development : Build and maintain partnerships with scientific institutions, community organizations, advocacy groups, and governments to foster collaborative approaches to climate and social justice.
- Community Engagement : Work closely with communities most impacted by climate change to understand their needs and ensure their active participation in shaping program outcomes.
- Monitoring and Evaluation : Oversee the monitoring and evaluation of funded projects, ensuring that outcomes align with the Erol Foundation’s mission and objectives.
- Education and Public Awareness : Lead efforts to raise awareness about the connections between climate change and social justice, using data-driven insights and personal stories.
- Policy Advocacy : Work to influence policy at local, national, and international levels, ensuring that social equity is central to climate change policies.
