The Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) cares for post-surgical patients waiting for their anesthesia to wear off. With a collaborative work environment, this team prides themselves on providing top-quality and patient-centered care while ensuring the safety of their patients. The PACU also offers a PeriAnesthesia Essentials class for new caregivers, certification in PeriAnesthesia nursing and attendance to Nursing Grand Rounds. A caregiver in this position works 7:00pm – 7:30am. A caregiver who excels in this role will: Provide direct nursing care. Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans. Monitor, record, document and communicate patients’ conditions. Administer prescribed medications and treatments. Note and carry out physician and nursing orders. Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs. Educate patients and their families. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing. Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN). Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA). One year of current acute care RN experience. Will consider military RN experience. Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN).
