Req #: 0000177588Category: Nurse PractitionerStatus: Per DiemShift: DayDepartment: ICU Physician - RahwayLocation: Observation Associates, 865 Stone Street, Rahway, NJ 07065Job SummaryThe Critical Care Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) will deliver health care in the critical care settings to include, but not limited to, the recognition and management of common, critical illnesses and injuries; and the provisioning of care across the health care continuum with emphasis on early detection, treatment, and prevention of diseases.Essential FunctionsObtains and records patient historyPerforms physical and medical screening examinationsCompletes diagnostic and therapeutic studiesOrders diagnostic laboratory tests, radiological studies or other therapies as appropriateEstablishes diagnostic decision-making and initiates a treatment plan, which may include ordering medications, additional therapeutic modalities, etc.Coordinates patient care with other members of the health care team. Initiates consultation requests to other health professionals to provide more comprehensive patient management.Instructs and counsels patients regarding mental and physical health, referring patients to appropriate specialists/resources.Completes charting in a thorough and timely mannerAdequately manages patient flow in the ICUPerforms procedures as allowed by state law and under the direction of the supervising or collaborating physicianWorks within legal, regulatory, and ethical practice standardsActively participates in department staff meetings and risk management educationCompletes required courses, i.e. HIPAA, EMTALA and other CME/CEU requirements.Other duties as assigned, including but not limited to academic lectures and / or quality improvement projects. Job RequirementsPhysician Assistant Certification Registration & Licensure by the New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners/ Physician Assistant Advisory requiredORMaster s degree in NursingNP Certification Registered Professional Nurse with current NJ state license; CDS and DEA.
