Sentara Obici Hospital, Mental Health Nursing Unit, is hiring a Full-time, Night Shift, Registered Nurse! Department Overview: Whether a patient comes to us through a referral from their primary care physician or after a visit to our emergency department, our quality, highly trained staff is here to help ensure patients are connected to the care they need. Common conditions we provide support for include depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, obsessive compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, postpartum depression, and substance abuse disorders. We employ a variety of therapeutic tools and services including individual therapy, group therapy, social work group, recreational therapy, and cognitive therapy. We are a psychiatrist-led team of registered nurses, social workers, recreational therapists, and other health care professionals. As a Registered Nurse with Sentara, you are responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
