Job SummarynnUnder the direction and supervision of the Occupational Therapist, provides occupational therapy services to patients/clients to assist in improving basic motor functions, reasoning abilities, compensating for permanent loss of function by teaching patients/clients to perform tasks in their daily living and working environments. May provide treatment to patients/clients with cognitive impairment, psychosocial dysfunction and physical disability. Assists with patient/clients and caregiver education.nnEssential FunctionsnnAssists Occupational Therapists in providing therapy to patient/client. Participates in the preparation and execution of the patient/client’s overall plan of care.nnProvides a treatment program as planned, delegated, and supervised by the Occupational Therapist according to agency policy to restore and return maximal function to the patient/client. Assesses the effectiveness of treatment and modifies treatment methods under the direction of the Occupational Therapist.nnDocumentation for each patient/client is in compliance with department standards, medical-legal, regulatory and reimbursement procedures. Ensures that required documentation for activities within areas of responsibility is completed in an accurate and timely manner.nnCommunicates with other members of the health care team in order to ensure continuity of care and coordination of services. Attend and participate in interdisciplinary conferences to coordinate patient/client care. Provides input into education information for family or caregivers regarding the Occupational Therapy program.nnAlerts the supervising occupational therapist or designees of potential health problems or changes in the patient/client’s condition.nnMay instruct and train rehabilitation staff, nursing, other medical staff and students regarding patient/client needs and rehabilitation services.nnParticipates in ongoing process improvement and program development.nnProvides transportation of the patient/client as needed using the employee’s personal vehicle tocommunity based resources related to the patient/client's therapeutic goals (Home Care business lines only/based on SH entity).nnQualificationsnnRequired Associate's Degree accredited therapy assistant programnnTherapy assistance experience preferrednnExperience in neurological injury, TBI, and Spinal Cord injury (based on Spectrum Health entity) preferrednnCRT-Occupational Therapy Assistant, Certified (COTA) - NB-COT upon hire requirednnCRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA or ARC required within 90 daysnnLIC-Driver's License - State of Michigan (Home Care Business Lines) upon hire requirednnHow Corewell Health cares for younnComprehensive benefits package to meet your financial, health, and work/life balance goals.
