Job Description The Radiology Technologist performs interpretive, patient care, and technical functions to insure proper radiologic diagnosis of patients. This position performs imaging examinations in multiple settings, contributing to the efficient operation of the department. This position functions as the first line interface with customers in the successful accomplishment of their imaging needs.
Responsibilities Assists in care and maintenance of Diagnostic Radiology equipment, and supplies. Sets up and adjusts Diagnostic Radiology equipment per radiologist protocol for exam. Operates highly complex radiographic equipment within the radiology department, operating suites and at the patient's bedside, selecting technical factors to ensure high-quality radiographs using the A.L.A.R.A. (As low as reasonable achievable) standards. Relies on extensive knowledge of anatomy and physiology to obtain the maximum diagnostic image corresponding to body parts. Receives and reviews requests for radiologic studies. Accepts patients and assesses their condition to determine proper handling and special requirements. Explains and prepares the patient for all radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures. Possesses and utilizes proper aseptic technique and isolation procedures when appropriate. Assists in the administration and administers various medications under the direction of a physician to render specific organs or systems more opaque. Performs all responsibilities / duties required by the department to perform examinations. Assists with examination of higher complexity such as myelograms, lumbar puncture etc. Quality controls all images, maintains inventory, and adheres to safety regulations. Participates in training of department personnel, including students. Displays superior interpersonal skills with patients and peers. Performs various clerical duties.Assist in other duties as assigned to support the operational needs of the department and organization. May be required to remain on campus immediately before, during, and after severe weather and/or disasters.
Qualifications Minimum Education - High School Diploma or Equivalent Required and
- Associates Degree Radiology Required
Licenses and Certifications - Certified Radiology Technologist Licensed State of Florida Upon Hire Required
- Registered Technologist (ARRT) Board Registry Upon Hire Required
- BLS for Healthcare Providers (BLS) American Heart Association within 90 Days Required
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities - Must be able to multi task daily.
- Possesses knowledge of filing systems, telephone etiquette and customer service.
- Computer skills.
- Medical terminology.
- Must be available for on call status, as needed, after normal operating hours.
- Demonstrates the knowledge and ability to perform the tasks listed on the competencies list as prescribed by the department.
