Location: University of Oklahoma Medical Center Edmond Med Surg
Shift Available: (40 hours/weekly) 8a-5p
General Description:
Under limited direction, have authority, responsibility and accountability for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of wound and ostomy throughout OU Medical System.
Essential Responsibilities:

- Consults on special patient cases where a need for specialized wound care and instruction has been identified
- Establishes a treatment plan for patients and their families to follow
- Administers medications specific to wound care
- Notes and carries out physician orders
- Takes emergency actions as required
- Reports symptoms and significant changes in patient's condition to appropriate personnel
- Evaluates the patient's/family's response to care and makes appropriate adjustments as needed
- Serves as a resource person for medical and hospital staff regarding wound care
- Collaborates on discharge needs and the readiness of a patient's discharge with the medical team
General Responsibilities:
- Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Associate's degree in Nursing from an accredited school required. Bachelor's of Science in Nursing from an accredited school preferred.
Experience: At least 2years of experience as a RN required..
License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s):
- Current RN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing, or a current multistate compact RN License (eNLC) required.
- Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire.
- Board Certified Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse, Certified Wound Ostomy Nurse or Certified Ostomy Continence Nurse certifications preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Must have current knowledge of nursing role in wound-ostomy care. Good interpersonal and communication skills.
