Works under their scope of practice and in accordance with registry in the operation of equipment. Coordinates patient flow and the activities of the Cardiopulmonary Department. Exercises professional judgment in the performance of duties in order to maintain equipment in good working condition. May perform other cardiology procedures in other modalities based on departmental needs. May have on call responsibilities.nnEssential Duties & Functions:nnPerforms echocardiography procedures of diagnostic quality as ordered by the referring physician and/or cardiologist on patients of all ages according to established protocols and evaluatesnnObtains clinical history and data for correlation with the procedure.nnPerforms QC as required.nnCoordinates patient care with other areas in order to optimize patient time and satisfactionnnAssesses learning needs and educates patients/families regarding procedures based on individual needs. Thoroughly educates patients about exam.nnEnsures that all records, files and reports are properly recorded as required, performs clerical duties when necessary, verifies a signed physician order is received and corresponds with the billed procedure.nnFollows departmental safety policies and procedures.nnEducation Required: Associate degreennAdditional requirements:nnType of degree: Allied HealthnnArea of study or major: Ultrasound/SonographernnLicensure/Certification/Registration:nnRegistered Cardiac Sonographer credentialed by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) or by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).nnCPR Certification requirednnExperience Required: No prior job-related work experiencennPreferred experience: Three years of clinical experience in all facets of echocardiography and demonstrate appropriate competencies.nnKnowledge/Skills:nnProficient in performing diagnostic procedures and obtaining diagnostic images for physician interpretationnnProficient in Electronic Medical Record (EMR)nnProficient in Cardiology Information Systems
