Job Description

The Occupational Therapist will render occupational therapy services to inpatients/residents and outpatients, planning and conducting screening/assessment, developing treatment plans, delivering or supervising the delivery of treatment intervention and education for the purpose of enhancing insight into disease; directing the patient’s/resident’s participation in selected tasks to restore, reinforce, and enhance the physical and mental performance, learning, skill development and productivity to improve self-care, cognitive and psychosocial skills and abilities, and improve the patient’s/resident’s overall functional status in the home/work/community environment, and to diminish or correct pathology/deformity including the fabrication of orthotics. The Occupational Therapist will function as an multidisciplinary team member within the hospital/rehab facility/psychiatric units, and in interactions with other health care providers. Patients/residents served include all age groups (Infant through Adult-Geriatric), but primarily Adult-Geriatric.

Reports to the Manager of Behavioral Health Services.

Qualifications:
Qualifications
n
n- BS in Occupational Therapy, or its equivalent required; MS degree preferred.
n- Possesses current Maryland State license, or is eligible.
n- One year of acute/subacute experience in adult neuromuscular/musculoskeletal dysfunction, and splinting in an acute/subacute/outpatient care environment preferred.
n- Mental Health focus – one year recent experience in a clinical psychiatric setting as evidenced by academic training and clinical experience in adult psychiatric disorders required.
n- Knowledge of Microsoft Windows or successful completion of a hospital training program required.
n- Weekend Staff/Float Pool – 1 year of acute care experience is required.
