This position is responsible for administering skilled occupational therapy treatments ensuring that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times.nnResponsibilitiesnnOccupational Therapist:nnInitiates skilled occupational therapy treatments in accordance with physician’s orders; maintains required contact with physician.nnMaintains written evaluations, progress notes, MDS records and discharge summaries for individuals in occupational therapy program.nnConfers with other health care staff regarding special needs of indviduals to enhance rehabilitation or maintenance of function.nnProvides input for Care Planning meetings and attends during absences of the Director of Occupational Therapy.nnMaintains statistical records of indviduals’ treatments.nnAssists with in-service training programs upon request.nnRecords and updates individual’s care plan.nnSubmits requisition for supplies needed in the treatment of individuals to Director of Occupational Therapy.nnAssumes all duties of the Director of Occupational Therapy, if applicable, during absences including supervision of COTA’s and Occupational Therapy Aides. Assumes responsibility for all necessary documentation.nnQualificationsnnOccupational Therapist:nnGraduation from an approved school of occupational therapy required.nnState license to practice occupational therapy required.nnTwo years’ experience in occupational therapy preferred.nnInterest in occupational therapy treatment programs for the geriatric and subacute populations utilizing a team approach.nnAbility to direct others necessary.nnAbility to communicate well verbally and in writing required.nnCurrent, valid CPR/BLS credentialnnSense of responsibility and ability to work well with residents, families, and other staff members required.nnQualities of maturity, diplomacy, and ability to work well with others required.nnAbility to work with geriatric and chronically ill residents, as well as other professionals in a friendly and helpful manner necessary.nnAbility to perform tasks to established standards of excellence required.nnThis position requires regular interaction with residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors.
