Major Food Group seeks a Director of Restaurants to join our team!


Major Food Group is a New York based hospitality company founded by Mario Carbone, Rich Torrisi and Jeff Zalaznick. From a small, intimate deli restaurant in Little Italy, MFG has evolved into a hospitality powerhouse creating iconic restaurants and gaining national and international attention for its unique style and culinary prowess.

MFG operates a wide range of concepts and seeks to transcend traditional hospitality models by offering multi-dimensional, immersive experiences that are inspired by deep history and cultures. From classic steakhouses to casual French bistros, Japanese brasseries and cocktail bars, each concept is uniquely and intentionally designed with the goal of transporting guests to another time and place. We tell complete stories and provide guests unforgettable experiences. 


Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Director of Restaurants will be responsible for the overall F&B Operations of all concepts within the Northeast region. 


RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Oversee entire operational function for 13 restaurants in New York and Boston encompassing 1,450 employees and responsible for an annual revenue of $170 million.
  • Provide strategic direction and leadership to General Managers and restaurant teams to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality food, service, and guest experiences.
  • Develop and implement operational policies, procedures, and standards to maintain efficiency and consistency across all locations.
  • Conduct regular site visits and inspections to assess operational performance, identify areas for improvement, an ensure compliance with company standards and regulations.
  • Develop annual operating budgets and financial forecasts in collaboration with executive management.
  • Monitor financial performance metrics, including revenue, COGS, labor costs and operating expenses to identify opportunities for cost savings and revenue growth.
  • Implement strategies to optimize profitability while maintaining a high level of quality and service.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to managers on leadership development, performance management and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Monitor guest feedback and online reviews to identify trends and opportunities for improvement and implement action plans accordingly.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation standards, NYC Department of Buildings, FDNY, BFD to maintain a safe and sanitary environment for guests and employees.
  • Collaborate with executive management and ownership to develop and execute strategic growth plans, including new restaurant openings, acquisitions, and expansion into new markets.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify potential growth opportunities and competitive threats.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in the planning and execution of new initiatives and projects.

REQUIREMENTS :

  • Minimum 7-10 years in a senior leadership role in the Restaurant/Hospitality Industry
  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business, or related field preferred
  • Proven track record of driving operational excellence and delivering strong financial results in a multi-concept or multi-unit operation 
  • Exceptions leadership, communication and decision making skills with the ability to influence and inspire teams
  • Deep understanding of FOH and BOH operations, including F&B standards, compliance and financial reporting
  • Proven team player willing to roll up your sleeves - a good leader should be willing and able to do whatever he or she asks of their team! 
  • Must exemplify the highest standards in honesty, integrity, humility and leadership
