POSITION:nnMRI TechnologistnnSCHEDULE: Full TimennLOCATION: Reno, NVnnSALARY: Will discuss with applicant.nnTO APPLY:nnDirect Link - Page - note, employers may close jobs on the website at any time.nnSUMMARY:nnUnder the supervision of the Manager of Imaging, the incumbent produces diagnostic MRI scans, assists the radiologist and referring physicians in MRI procedures, and ensures patient care while representing the Purpose of Renown Health.nnMINIMUM/PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:nnEducation:nnMust have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing and speaking English. Requires completion of an AMA approved two-year Radiology program with an AS degree in radiology.nnApplicants who have graduated from a four-year program with a BS RT will be given preference.nnExperience:nnTechnologists with clinical or hospital based MRI experience gained through a minimum two years of on-site training is required. Training of individuals who have a background of five recent years in Radiologic specialties is preferred.nnLicenses:nnRequires registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, (A.R.R.T.).nnApplicants with certification in MRI will be given preference, R.T., R.M.R.I.T. (or current license standard).nnMRI Registry within 12 months of hire required. * Certifications: *nnAHA BLS certification is required within 60 days of employment.nnComputer/Typing:nnMust possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days,the computers skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.nnJOB RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:nnThe major challenges to this position include being able to understand and apply the technical skills and advanced physics required to operate the MRI scanner in an efficient and accurate manner.nnThe incumbent must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on physical, motor/sensory, psychosocial, and safety appropriate to patients served ranging in age from infant, child, adolescent, adult and geriatric, and meet standards of quality as measured by the unit/department age-specific competency standards.nnThe incumbent will be asked to perform other job duties related tonnRenownnnImaging as needed, including after hours standby and callback time.nnThis position has the authority to make technical decisions that will provide the best possible MRI image quality.nnThis position must be proficient in the use of some or all of the following MRI equipment G.E. EXCITE SCANNER G.E. 1.5T HD and 1.5T HDX EXCITE SCANNERS GE HFO 0.7 SCANNER, GE 1.5T LX SCANNER, PHILIPS 1.5TACHEIVA SCANNER AND PHILIPS 3T INGENIA SCANNER AS WELL AS RELATED SUPPORT EQUIPMENT.This position will require training and general knowledge attained to operate the hospital and department computer systemsnnThe position is further challenged to maintain accuracy; communicate effectively with different types of people; to function efficiently and pleasantly under pressure; to identify and maintain priorities and to respond to simultaneous requests and demands from many people while remaining courteous and professional.nnHigh standards of diplomacy and respect for confidentiality are essential.nnKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIESnn1.nnAdopts a philosophy consistent with the Renown Health Purpose Statement and models Standard of Conduct Concepts.nn2.nnDemonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care, based on physical motor/sensory, psychosocial, and safety appropriate to the age of the patients served.nnAbility to interact effectively with persons of differing socio/economic backgrounds.nnA thorough knowledge of MRI physics as applied to magnetic resonance principlennThe ability to manipulate the factors required to produce a diagnostic MRI scan:T1, T2, T2*, proton density.nnKnowledge of all contrast media used in MRI; i.e., dosage, precautions, adverse reaction
