Job Title: Biotech Research Analyst

Job Overview:

Our company is founded upon virtue and the mission of bettering the greater good, we are seeking a skilled Biotech Research Analyst to join our Asset Management Team responsible for conducting in-depth investment analysis within the biotechnology sector. The role focuses on evaluating companies and their products to identify high-value creators and compelling investment opportunities.

The analyst will collaborate with the Healthcare & Life Sciences Team and the broader Company Investment Team to make investment recommendations that align with our ethical standards, screens, and portfolio strategy. The role also involves portfolio construction, security analysis, and providing input on investment strategies.

Qualifications:

• Advanced scientific degree (MD, PhD, PharmD), or related qualifications (MBA, CFA).
• 5+ years of experience in biotech investment preferred, with a strong enthusiasm and interest in the field.
• Excellent research, financial modeling, and valuation skills.
• Strong passion for financial analysis, industry research, and stakeholder assessment.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex topics clearly.
• Demonstrated strong analytical acumen.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively in a dynamic environment.
• Ability to collaborate well with other departments and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

• Investment Analysis & Recommendations:

• Conduct qualitative and quantitative analysis of biotechnology companies, assessing competitive advantages, management teams, industry structures, and relevant criteria.
• Perform comprehensive investment research, including independent analysis and due diligence. This includes speaking with management teams, industry experts, and analyzing publicly available data (e.g., SEC filings, conference calls).
• Make buy/sell investment recommendations based on detailed company and industry analysis, including financial modeling, valuation analysis, and risk assessments.
• Monitor and analyze financial metrics, including historical performance and financial statement models, with proprietary forecasts.

• Valuation & Financial Modeling:

• Perform valuation analyses, including setting price targets and evaluating potential upside/downside opportunities.
• Build and maintain financial models for companies, including proprietary forecasts and financial performance evaluations.

• Portfolio Management & Strategy:

• Actively monitor existing holdings and potential investment opportunities within the market.
• Provide input on portfolio strategy, portfolio construction, and securities in collaboration with other investment team members.
• Support Portfolio Managers in driving portfolio management initiatives.

• Private Investment Opportunities:

• Lead diligence and deal execution for private biotech investment opportunities, which may also involve board representation.

• External Communication & Research Support:

• Support Sales and Marketing teams with external communications as required.
• Participate in ad hoc research projects as needed, keeping up to date with industry trends, approaches, and best practices
