The Certified Seating Specialist, PT/OT requires a current license in either Physical Therapy or Licensure / certification in Occupational Therapy and provides appropriate physical / occupational therapy care to children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric populations and provides services to patients in evaluation, fitting, assembly, adjustment, modification, repair and distribution of custom wheelchairs, seating systems, power wheelchairs, custom manual wheelchairs, scooters, and all other rehabilitation equipment and supplies not limited to gait trainers, standing devices, custom bathing equipment.

The PT / OT Seating Specialist in the Specialty Rehab Wheelchair Shop will work alongside other seating specialists in a therapy role as well as an individual seating specialist under other circumstances and the work will be performed in a clinic setting as well as in the community.

Seating specialists are the primary contact of the Intermountain Wheelchair Shop to both therapists, medical staff and the client and/or family or caregivers and will represent the company in the community.  This position is an “enhanced” Seating Specialist role as it requires and utilizes the skills and experience of a licensed Physical Therapist or occupational Therapist in addition to the seating specialist functions.  The seating specialist will work with our team to drive the workflow process, communicating with patient’s, their family or caregivers along the complete process. They make recommendations for equipment while working with and aiding other providers during the process and they work to determine what equipment will best meet the client’s needs while communicating the therapeutic benefits of the recommended items.   

In addition, this position acts as a liaison between Homecare's wheelchair department and all Intermountain facilities, as well as many other organizations within their territory and actively participates in program development and marketing strategies to enhance the Homecare Wheelchair Shop referral base and development of department goals.  Actively participates in the quality improvement process for the team and the clinical setting and then follows through with the improvements and maintains current knowledge of standard physical and occupational therapy practices for various patient populations, providing competent services including treatment.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current state Physical Therapist license

OR

  • Certified Occupational Therapist through the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)

Plus:

  • Current ATP certified through RESNA
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers
  • Basic Computer skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Clinical background experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Possess skill sets and experience with target population of job setting.
  • Working with wheelchairs before is a plus

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience. 

$41.22 - $63.59
