PMC is a regional leader in professional land mobile radio and public safety communications with an impressive customer base and partner network. We are looking for an experienced System Engineer to lead several major projects in the New Jersey area.
Job Description
The Principal System Engineer will be the lead technical resource for major projects and programs that PMC deploys and supports. The technical components of major programs deployed by PMC typically include:
· Two way radio systems including P25 and DMR multi-site conventional simulcast and trunking systems
· Point to Point Microwave Networks
· Antenna Combining / Multicoupler Systems
· IP Radio Dispatch Systems
· IP Logging Recorders
· Portable and Mobile Subscriber Radio Programming and Maintenance
· Bi-Directional Amplifiers and Distributed Antenna Systems
· Layer 2 and Layer 3 Networks
· DC Power Systems and Battery Back Up
The candidate will lead the technical design and documentation of the systems we deploy and will work in partnership with the project management and field technician team to deliver the solutions we implement. Some of the daily tasks include:
- Work with sales and project management teams to gather system information and understand overall system requirements.
- Lead and define technical designs and detailed configurations for land mobile radio and backhaul networks.
- Review and finalize for ordering the project bill of materials.
- Provide technical expertise during the staging, installation, implementation and maintenance of the systems.
- Develop test plans based on the functional requirements and technical specifications of the system.
- Lead the deployment effort to install equipment at customer sites and perform site and system acceptance tests.
- Work with third party vendors/contractors to ensure delivery of requirements set forth by the design.
- Compile close out documentation and update all repositories with system information as required.
- Provide technical troubleshooting and support for systems under maintenance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's (BS) Degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science OR 6+ years experience in one of the following: Electronics Technician, System Technologist, System Manager, or Field Service Experience with more than one of the following: LMR, RF systems, Radio Communications, Radio Frequency, Wired/Wireless Communication Systems, IT Systems or Networking equipment.
- Interest and experience in wireless communications and electronics.
- The ability to program, troubleshoot, and perform system diagnostics on simple and complex electronics systems.
- Solid computer and networking skills.
- Strong self-management skills and "people" skills to work closely with PMC customers as well as PMC Technical and Project Management teams.
- Self-motivated and self-managed to perform the required duties at a distance from direct supervision
- Must be able to solve customer problems quickly during stressful situations
- Valid drivers license, good driving record, and able to pass background check.
