Responsibilities

We are seeking a Cardiovascular Technologist (PRN) , also referred to a as a Cath Lab Tech and IR Technologist at St Mary’s Medical Center a member of Prime Healthcare in Blue Springs, MO. A Cath Lab Tech is a specialized healthcare professional dedicated to assisting in the diagnosis and treatment of heart and vascular conditions. Their responsibilities primarily involve performing diagnostic tests, managing equipment, and supporting physicians during procedures. Cath Lab Tech are essential to cardiac care, ensuring accurate diagnostics, safe interventions, and high-quality patient support. Their expertise is essential for the smooth functioning of the Cardiac Catheterization Department, as they utilize EPIC software systems and monitor GE-MAC to support our vital procedures. This position is on a per diem basis, meaning PRN.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):
n
n - perform Electrocardiograms (EKGs) to measure the electrical activity of the heart, monitor the heart's rhythm, and detect abnormalities such as arrhythmias
n - work with cardiologists to assist in cardiac catheterizations for interventional procedures, to examine the heart and possibly treat blockages
n - assist cardiologists during cardiac catheterization procedures, including minimally invasive interventions such as angioplasty and stenting, to diagnose and treat cardiovascular conditions and ensure proper placement of stents to keep arteries open
n - assist in the setup and monitoring of pacemakers and defibrillator implantations, devices that help regulate the heart's rhythm
n - prepare patients for cardiovascular tests and procedures, including positioning, explaining the procedure, and ensuring patient comfort
n - during tests and interventional procedures, monitor the patient’s vital signs (blood pressure, heart rate, etc.) and report any issues to the supervising physician
n - during procedures, monitor patients' vital signs, electrocardiograms (EKGs), and hemodynamic data to ensure their safety and provide real-time information to the medical team
n - may scrub in and assist the physician directly during the procedure, handling catheters, guidewires, and other equipment as needed
n - track the par level of all instruments and supplies, and provide support for both invasive and noninvasive cardiac procedures in all capacities for the Cardiac Cath Lab and Interventional Radiology (IR) Lab

Qualifications
n
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING
n
n - ARRT-R and license as required by State, Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) OR Registered Electrophysiology Specialist required
n - Previous experience in a Cardiovascular Lab; preferred
n - Cardiovascular technologist training program with emphasis in invasive cardiology and hemodynamic monitoring preferred
n - BCLS (AHA) required upon hire and maintain current
n - Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS); required within 30 days of hire
n - Proficient computer skills
