Our highly skilled surgeons use advanced minimally invasive surgeries to provide the best surgical options for patients. Procedures offered include general surgery, ENT, endoscopy, foot and ankle, gynecology, hand and wrist, hip and knee joint replacements, shoulder, spine, sports medicine and urology.nnA caregiver in this position works 7:00am - 3:30pm.nnA caregiver who excels in this role will:nnAssist the surgeons in the scrub capacity and with circulating responsibilities under the direct supervision of a registered nurse in a manner that is consistent with established standards of practice.nnScrub, gown and glove according to established policies and procedures.nnOrganize and maintain instruments and supplies in such a manner that promotes safe and efficient transfer to and from surgeons and assistants.nnAssist and anticipate the needs of the surgeon with regard to instruments, sutures, sponges and supplies.nnAssist in the preparation and draping of the patient and operative area.nnMaintain aseptic technique at all times.nnPerform appropriate needle, sponge, and instrument counts with the registered nurse and report correctness and discrepancies according to standard.nnAssist in the application of dressings and casts.nnAssemble all instruments and equipment for decontamination according to policies and procedures.nnAssist in the maintenance of equipment to ensure proper function and safety.nnAssist with routine and terminal cleaning and other housekeeping duties as directed.nnApply electrocautery and instrumentation directly to tissues as appropriate during surgical intervention.nnAssist by handling tissue in dissection and suturing, utilizing appropriate instruments.nnProvide site exposure of relevant areas via mechanical or manual assistance.nnPerform subcutaneous and skin closures and apply post-operative casts, splints, slings, etc.nnAssist in the transportation of patients.nnFunction in all areas of central processing to promote efficient utilization of instruments and equipment as needed.nnAssist in the preparation of procedure/case carts for surgical cases.nnComplete mandatory education and training in order to maintain competencies, requirements, certification and/or licensure.nnMinimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:nnGraduate from an approved surgical technology program or equivalent.nnCST certification or willing to obtain within one year of employment.nnOne year of experience as a Surgical Technologist.nnBasic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).nnKnowledgeable of and competent in suturing techniques.nnOur caregivers continue to create the best outcomes for our patients across each of our facilities.
