Position Overview:
The Sewer is responsible for performing efficient sewing operations on baby bonnets and related assembly tasks. This includes accurate sewing, packaging, quality inspections, and maintaining productivity standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Sew multiple types of baby bonnets accurately and efficiently
- Assemble and package baby bonnets as needed
- Maintain accountability for correct bonnet counts
- Perform visual inspections to ensure product quality
- Strive to increase production levels in a cost-efficient manner
- Accurately report time and attendance using provided codes
- Meet productivity standards; complete work in a timely manner
- Observe safety and security procedures; report unsafe conditions
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines
- Provide high-quality customer service to all internal and external contacts
- Follow written work instructions and procedures
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the Production Supervisor/Manager
Job Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED; or one to three months of related experience/training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
- Strong basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals)
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but straightforward instructions
- Ability to handle problems with a few concrete variables in standardized situations
Physical Requirements:
- Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach, walk, and occasionally stoop and lift up to 40 lbs.
- Ability to perform repetitive motions involving wrists, hands, and/or fingers
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in a warehouse/production environment.
