Role and Responsibilities
This is an intermediate position involving technician work in a highway material testing facility.General activities include some or all of the following: Independently operates pavement testing equipment on a Statewide basis and performs advanced field evaluation on the State and public roadway systems to assess the structural condition, performance, and serviceability levels.Schedules and coordinates the field operations and activities, including maintenance of traffic, with other District Offices and Consultants. Subsequently performs data processing using appropriate software, storage, and analysis and prepares detailed engineering reports on findings. Ensures the timely calibration and maintenance of the testing vehicle and related equipment and that all activities are properly and timely planned, documented, and filed. - Independently performs Pavement Materials Data collection, processing, and reporting
- Conducts Quality Assurance/Quality Control of testing data
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Organized and highly motivated
- Data entry and quality review experience
- Operating a motor vehicle in the performance of their duties.
- Ensuring the testing equipment is maintained, calibrated, and functional at all times.
- Specific computer skills, Outlook Email, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Technical writing skills.
- Basic mechanic skills to trouble shoot equipment in the field.
- Be able to multi-task and work well with others or individually to meet common goals.
- Being able to lift 50 lbs.
- Extensive driving and overnight travel away from office.
Schedule: Monday-Thursday 7:00am-5:30pm
